I'm not a total beginner, but there are a lot of things I need to learn. I've been hired quite a few times in the past year, but I don't' know what to charge. I'm only thirteen, so I don't want to charge a lot of money. I have so far just taking what given, anywhere from $25 - $75 for a 30 - 45 minute show. Does anyone have any suggestions on what I should tell people when they ask how much?

Well, tell us a little more. It depends on how long the show is, what age group, what type of show. and so on. How many shows, or routines do you have? What age groups are you targeting? I have a 20 min show for young kids. 4-9. Then I have another show for older kids to adults that is 40 min. 10 and up. Then, I also have resturaunt routines, or "walkaround". I have so far 5 routines, each 5 min long. So if I were to do table hopping or a party were I was asked to walkaround and do magic for small, individual groups, that is what I would do. I would do one routine for about an hour (depending on how big the party is. You don't want them to see the same routine over and over.) For a 20 min kids show, I try to charge 30 bucks. For a 40 min older kids show, I try to charge 50 bucks. and for walkaround. It depends on how long they want me there. I try to charge 20 bucks for every 30 min. Anyway, hoped this helped. If you have any questions don't hesitate to PM me or just ask them here. Also, check out my website in my signature. You might find some things of some help there. -Cory.

When desiding what you will charge for your shows, you must decide what your worth. Also, think of this, if the party host wanted to take thoses 20 kids somwhere else, like to laser tag, rock wall climbing, or anything else that they want, how much would it cost the host. Probably a lot more then what you charge, so don't feel like you have to under charge. Also, in my area, it cost about 50 bucks just to get a plumber out to look at your pipes, and then you still have to pay for them to do stuff. So once again, don't feel bad about charging a little more then what you might think is resonable.

So, when you'll be 70 years old you'll charge $ 50.000.00, I presume...
Age doesn't matter, as Daniel said it's what you think you worth; also depends how good you are, what you are doing, what kind of reactions you arouse with the people... Maybe you are still living with your parents and you don't have to pay for your bills, but do not sell your efforts, patience, skills, money, endurance for $ 25.00! If someboy ask you "how much", means that they are willing to pay (otherwise $ 25 from where I came from, is like a tip, so nobody are going to ask). Also a cheap price means a cheap service... Try to find a right price that is good for you and convenient for your customer; also you'll be always in time to make a deal offering a "special" price, like a first time customer, or whatever...
