I enjoyed it a lot, another great idea that nobody in mentalism has yet come up with. I see what is meant by it not really having a strong ending. Especially when compared to something like Seance or Messiah or RR but it was fun seeing just how the reactions would take place at the 'moment'
Oh yeah if you're a really believable mentalist always have one miss in your special. Curt

I managed to watch most of it while working on my computer, I thought the first 3/4 of the show was really good. However the ending was a bit of a let down, it just didn't seem believable. However the sweet shop was worth watching.

>> What do you mean not very convincing. I myself thought it was his best special yet.
The finale, the actual robbery wasn't very convincing in that the people carrying out the robbery looked as is they were play-acting. I've seen people more convincingly act like they beleived they were chickens in stage hypnotism shows. The effect of motivational seminars on impressionable people is quite amazing. Especially those seminars that cost several thousand just to attend. I'm not interested in knocking DB, he's very good at what he does. |

I was told the secret to the show. Obviously, I can't tell you who told me in the open forum, but if you'd like to know then please PM me.
The first three of the people were told, just before walking down the street, that if they pretended to hold up the security guy, they would be given £10,000. The fourth guy was not told this. In the event, he did not hold up the security guy (although he may have done so had he wished). But they paid him £10,000 anyway. Personally, I thought that the three people played their parts pretty convincingly - especially the third guy who look scared out of his wits when "caught". Then, in the "debriefing dome", they were sent into a deep trance and told that if any of them breathed a word about the bribe to anyone, then they would be hunted down and shot like rabbits.

Oh and another thing four people thought they had gone into space a couple of weeks ago,and Derren was nowhere in sight!
Must be suggestible season on Channel Four. But how unlucky was that security guard? To be robbed three times!! |

When you see it again note this.
The subjects upon leaving the car and starting their walk were very conscious of the gun. It was if they were anticipating having to use it upon seeing and hearing the first cues.

I believe the secret to the show was hidden in plain sight and the excellent mentalism was in weaving a story around it .

They'd be conscious of the gun because it was tucked into the back of their trousers, concealed and ready to use. No-one would carry it like that unless they were expecting to have to fish it out.

Aww, look at people forgetting to enjoy it and having a need to pick it apart because they didn't get offered a TV special.
The grapes are always less than sweet in here. |

Nice way to finish, with a burst of The Jacksons and a flash of green right at the end there.
Now then, where did I put my gun... |

I thought it was hugely entertaining, particularly the sweet shop. And it was great to see old DB wearing his strangler's gloves again (why does he use them?)
The titles went by too quickly so I missed what Peter Clifford did. Was he the man in the lab coat during the Milgram experiment? And did everyone else notice that the EXIT sign had small letters attached to it, to make it excite? DW |

Was just me that thought that the young chap (3rd in line for the Heist) looked remarkably like Luke Jermey - a brother maybe?

And as far as I can see, no-one is "picking it apart" - just commenting, chatting, sharing the interest in it. Speaking as a top hat, I loved the show to bits. And I love grapes too. Can you get me some?
