Three Questions on Cassette Player & MP3 Player
1. Do you know of any cassette player which has a USB port so I can EASILY place a cassette tape into it and store it on my computer for later transfer to a CD. I do have a good sound card and a line in but unsure if this is the best way to go. 2. Do any of the MP3 players come with a remote control? 3. Do any of the MP3 players have a visual display and a pause function which "DOES NOT" turn itself off after a few minutes?

What is this thing you call a "casette palyer"?

It plays those antique spinning tapes.

I am no expert by any means but I will try to answer your three questions as best as I can.
1. Never heard of a cassette player with USB. Since you would have to play the full tape anyway, I really don't see any advantage to USB in this case. I plug a 1/8" stereo patch cord from my cassette players headphone jack into the input jack on my sound card and the results that I get are great. I just convert the .wav file into an .MP3 file then burn it to a cd. You can buy a good conversion program for about $30.00 or go to http://www.download.com and get a free conversion program to do the job. I did both but use the free program because it is much better in my opinion. 2. Some of the Boombox type do but I have not seen the small walkman type with remotes. 3. All the good ones have a visual display to let you know the title of the track being played and the track number as well. The two MP3 players that I have (Boombox and Personal CD player) keep the display on while playing and while in pause mode. There are a lot of good MP3 players on the market these days and the prices are still slowly coming down as the memories go up. I prefer a player with solid state memory rather than a hard drive but that is just my preference. I also prefer a player that uses regular batteries rather than the built in battery type. I also do not like the mini ipods but that is just me and I won't waste your time with the many reasons I feel this way about these most popular item's. I hope this was of some help to you. Iven

Another solution would be using analog to digital converter. I recently converted the interview of Tenkai with me in tapes to .WAV files.
