I was walking through a store this afternoon and suddenly it occurred to me that I had never seen a DeKolta Toilet...
This leads me to my question of the eveninig which may prove to be a dangerous one... What is the most inappropriate effect you have ever seen a performer do on stage? Before you answer remember that it must be a real occurance and you must chose your words carefully as to not offend us all! I'll get the ball rolling with this one: I'll never forget the time I saw a magician use a rather odd magic wand while performing the cups and balls behind a bar. Let's just say that this plastic item was rather....human-like. I'm still shocked to this very day that he didn't get kicked out of the place!

Couple of year ago I saw this on prime time UK T.V
Magician eats three silks, drops his pants down and produces them from a rubber b**s. I've never seen such disgusting performance of magic. :kewl: |

There's a D-Lite quicktime video on one of the magic web sites that shows the guy eating the D-Lite, and then pulling it out of his ____, he then put's it up to his nose and makes a face.
It's probably the most inappropriate thing I've seen on a magic dealers website, and this guy is good enough that it's obviously part of his routine. It's totally tastless, and who thinks like this anyway? It puts things like spike through arm over into the good taste catagory! |

I have to say that I rather like some of Penn and Tellers work. Their bullet catch stands high in a league of it's own.
Their cups and balls routine makes me smile every time I see it. They do it so well and so fast that audiences are even more amazed the second time.

I witnessed a performer at a national convention perform a children’s routine where he magically produced a pair of sexy silk women’s underwear from a young girl helper from the audience, the whole audience felt uncomfortable for the young girl

This will pale next to some of the above, but many years ago I saw a performer ask a member of the audience -- a sailor in uniform -- to come up on stage, and then proceeded to do the bra trick. Needless to say, the sailor was not amused, but then the performer (who apparently hadn't thought about it) tried to make light out of the situation, and that didn't work either.
That's our departed buddy Burt, aka The Great Burtini, doing his famous Cups and Mice routine

Hi Eric,
I answered the orignal posters question. Thanks for the tip that I need to see more shows, I'll follow that advice and hopefully my future posts won't invite your negative response. Thanks again. |

Eric,
Regards the D'lite routine. Have you ever seen the guy who has a glass jar with eight red lights in it? He reaches in and one by one removes a light and eats it. He uses a D'lite to pick up the lights of course. When the jar is empty he unbuttons his jacket and you can clearly see 7 red lights in his stomach. BUT... one is missing. He swallowed 8 but you can only see 7. The house lights then lower and the magi turns around and a single red light can be seen apparantly shining out of the seat of his pants. Very original and it gets a great reaction. Best, Tim |

If the D'Lite effect bothers you then you should really pass on my show. I have a very sarcastic style and enjoy making the audience feel uneasy. People need to have their buttons pushed from time to time and I make a living out of doing so. But, to be honest I do it using humor and I don't perfom in the venues that most of the others on here do. You have to pick your material carefully for your audiences. My shows are PG13 and it states it very clearly on all the advertisment. Most...not all, good humor generally offend someone, that is why it is funny. Most of you have probably told a joke or two that you had to look around before you said it to see if anyone was near. Now don't lie you know you have....

I once found a series of photos on the 'net of a couple doing "Interlude" completely nude ("Internude"?) I found it during a routine search of magic illusions. Idoubt they were really magicians, and I was never able to find the pictures again. Someone MUST know something about it, as they had a nice looking prop (the illusion, I mean!) The girl was quite stunning, but for the life of me I can't imagine where such a performance would have taken place. They were obviously studio shots, not performance shots.
Inappropriate for some, enticing to others. I also saw a performance of a clown (I think it was Vito Lupo) who was doing a kids show in TV (Ed Alanzo was on the same show.) He pretended to shove a sponge ball up his backside and had it pop out of his mouth. I thought that was in extremely poor taste (in more ways than one!) I saw a magician do a local TV spot (during a live remote broadcast) where he did the bra trick on the female reporter (Kristin Dodd, who now anchors on The Weather Channel.) They cut away so fast, and they never had another local magician on that channel. That shows how the morons in among us screw it up for the rest of us. |

Unfortunately, I don't have 'em ... and have never again been able to find them again! At the time, I thought it was really funny and sent the link to a few magic friends, but other than that I never downloaded the pics themselves. Too bad; it was really an interesting thing to see.
But as I said, someone's got to know about these, as they obviously used a magician's working prop. Something like "Interlude" would be pretty scarce (and this was several years ago, whene even fewer were around.) I seem to think that both the magician and the girl were "au naturale", but it's really the girl that I remember for sure (hmmm ... I wonder why?) You can't keep a naked woman a secret, can ya? |

Nude Interlude? Geez. There are the Showgirls of Magic who do magic topless in Las Vegas. Hard to use a toppit in this show.
Wonder is very necessary in life. When we're little kids, we're filled with wonder for the world - it's fascinating and miraculous. A lot of people lose that. They become cynical and jaded, especially in modern day society. Magic renews that wonder.

I think that David Copperfields Switching Panties trick was as disgusting and inappropirate as anything I've seen... not only because I thought he had class.. but just think about two unaquainted girls actually changing underwear.. how unsanitary!!
Ewww.. And to top it off.. it's just not a very good trick... |
