What do you think of the Crystal Thief effect?
I was wondering if anyone here at the Magic Café Forum has ever used Vernet Magic’s Crystal Thief. I can't find any information or reviews on it anywhere. It is a silk tube that can be used to vanish silks, bills, billets, etc. The effect is this: A silk is inserted into the Crystal Thief and the clear plastic tube that is wrapped in a piece of paper and given to a spectator to hold. When the spectator unwraps the paper he finds the silk that was inside the tube has vanished. Have you ever used the Crystal Thief and if so, what do you think of this effect? Gerard

Somebody somewhere must have seen, used or at least tried this trick. Please share your experience with the Magic Café member about this effect if you have ever played with it.
I see it advertised at different magic websites but no one I know seems to have had any experience with the effect. Thank you.

If this is the same as the old Time Capsule effect (Tenyo and other cheaper imports) it is actually a very good trick. You might consider adding a bouquet of spring flowers from the crumpled paper as a surprise finish.

Nice touch, Julie. If you don't mind, I may borrow that and use spring bills.

Merry Christmas Jimmy
Certainly, use this and have fun. Many moons ago my niece won a Young Magicians close-up contest and this was her closer. She really caught a couple of the adult Magicians off guard! |

The Crystal Thief looks smaller than some of the other magic silk tubes I've seen. Does this use handkerchiefs or can you also use silks with this silk tube? Can you use 18 inch silks with this tube? Thanks.

Plastic prescription bottles work well and you can use the cap to make it appear more "ordinary". Maybe use the larger prescription bottle to hold one of the rising Vitamin Capsules that have re-appeared on the market...? |
