In the middle of P.N., when all ropes are the same length, I'm having problems smoothly pulling the ropes out "one" at a time, if you catch my drift. When I pull out the "second" rope, it just seems clumsy trying to put the first one back and then get the next one out without flashing anything. I've seen this done smoothly. Any advice?

You need to use different fingers. Do not use the same fingers that hold the rope to switch. That is what makes it look smooth.

I've been watching the Penguin magic video closely and I think I see what's going on now. Too bad this isn't explained very well in the instructions. I may have more questions later, though...

It's like doing a top change with cards. Also, how many months have you been practicing this?

I had the same question you are asking until I viewed * Daryl's Expert Rope Magic Made Easy Volume 3 The Great White Rope (DVD).
Daryl explains his subtleties of counting the three even lengths of rope in the explanation part of Daryl's Rope Routine. His technique is very convincing. ~ Dan |

Only been practicing a month or two. But mainly the move itself. The friggin' instructions that came with mine don't even show you how to do the one-handed version of the move, which I had to learn just from watching clips online. You'd think that if you pay for a trick it should come with more complete instructions.

Pete, I like how you summed it up as a top change with ropes! Hmm, maybe even a Hammon Count...
Yes, different fingers is the key and the way the hands move in relation to each other. I usually count the rope with finger and thumb, then as it returns the other placed between the 2nd and 3rd fingers, with the other hand really putting them there, while the first rope is left in their place. Hope that is clear without being too explicit. |

Daryl does a great job of explaining how to do it - that's who taught me how.

Quote: If this is done quickly it looks very natural. The right hand practically masks the move.

Try to do the move slowly when you pratice. Once you get it right you can speed it up and it would become naturly.
