I have seen the video of his performance of this illusion on live TV, and been to his stage show. When I went to his stage performance, I could have sworn his legs walked away from his body (btw I saw the show about 4 or 5 years ago).
On TV, this never happened. Did he once ever do it this way or is the "I saw the coin change in mid-air" psychology having an affect on my brain years later? |

No bud. His legs stay at his side.

No it is the imagination we all depend on to make talk of our magic more spectacular than it actually was. Since both the top and legs are his, he keeps them within a comfortable distance. But as David would say, "That'd be good though huh?"

Good magic always seems "bigger" than it really was. Ask almost any layman what kind of plane Copperfield vanished and they will usually answer.." A 747" This falsehood had even been printed many times in the media.

If the legs walk away from the body then we're all safe to do the illusion now, because the illusion DC bought and turned into Laser means the legs stay connected to the body at all times, just like in real life.

Oh you wanna see that other guys doing it. Well they are sucks. I saw even four different guys pictures on the net with the legs beside them. There is no respect at all.

I actuallt thought that was very well done, esoecially when he puts his legs apart. The talking was corny though.

Valentino ripped this effect off a few years ago in a Japanese TV special. He did it so badly that it exposed the entire method. The ironic thing about it was that Valentino (Mr. Exposure himself) didn't want to expose this. He played it straight but didp expose it by his bad, bad, bad performance of it.

The loose shirt in the two DB wannabees ruins the effect, if they spent a bit more time making the gaff, they'd probably have it.
It's easy to write this stuff off as junk, and even though it's pretty bad, these two guys have still put quite a few hours into making it, filming it, and putting it on the web. I admire their effort, but they have much more work to do. |

These videos are really sad..but are also really funny to watch. Sure it gives away the secret but go back and watch the Copperfield's video of it and it makes it look so good! but in the end people should just leave the trick to Copperfield as much fun as it is to watch them try to perform it.

Tim, I suspect if you were to ask almost any layman the type of plane Copperfield vanished, and they're more likely to answer "Who?" Remember, this happened 20 years ago, and even though he is still one of the top-grossing acts in show biz, DC's lack of recent TV specials makes him an almost unknown to the 20-and-under set.
