Obviously there are plenty of wrestling fans here on the Café, so I thought I would ask... What do you think is the best wrestling finishing move of all time?

I can't speak for the Indys, I have been out of that for 20 years, but as far as the WWE is concerned, I am saddened that a lot of the great finishers aren't used any more. I think that Vince has given in to parental pressure that people don't want to see thier children giving each other a pile driver, or worse.

As a result, when was the last time you saw a figure 4 leg lock?

Anyway, my personal favorite has to be Jimmy Snuka and his Superfly Splash. Anyone who saw him do that off the top of a cage onto Bob Backlund, knows what I mean. The cage is however tall it is, and he jumpped up, higher still.

I do love Mick Foley, but when he did it, lets be honest here, he didn't fly. He plummeted like a bag of wet cement.

BTW. Memo to Vince (in case any of his workers read the Café).
One of my students used a folding steal chair for a weapon during a melay at a basketball game. He meant to hit a teen age girl over the head who was yelling the "N" word at him and his team. Her boyfriend stepped in at the last second and got the blow instead. (classic wrtestling move huh?) He was out cold. He didn['t just jump back up to battle on. I guess you still haven't elimintaed the violent stuff for the kids to see.

I always liked Diamond Dallas Page's "Diamond Cutter." Unlike the "Stone Cold Stunner," it could come out of know where and cause a lot of pain. I remember watching a WCW show, Page was on the top rope, Giant (A.K.A. "The Big Show") was staggering around clueless in the ring. Off the rope comes Page and while he was falling in mid air he latched around the neck of the Giant sending him clear to the ground. With the "Stunner," you know it's comming. You have to kick in front of them, and there is usually a counter move. I can't remember how many guys were caught off guard with Page's move.

Kevin Nash power Bomb, Scott Hall Razors Edge, Rick Rude neck Breaker. I also like any kind of "hidden" Weapon used to win. Also, tai killer weeds topless leg drop is good.

Best move ever: A huricanrana off the top of the cage by elix Skipper, After he WALKED from one corner to the other.

Worst finishers; Hulk hogan leg drop, people's elbow and whetever the hell john cena does.

Hi Jeff,

I love what Verne gagne said about Hogan's leg drop..."My grandmother could do it better" and that is a direct quote.

It still bothers me that I get excited when Hogan comes to the ring. He can't wrestle, he can't sell a move well... Yet he is just so incredibly charismatic.

I have the best finishing move people. Come on, it doesn't get any better than the Pipeline. Wooooo. Ok, now that I'm done marking out for myself and Ric, I would have to say my favorite finishing move is the double arm DDT. I remember the first time I ever saw Foley use it. It was so sweet. Eventually I started using in matches where I wasnt able to get my opponents up on my shoulders for my own move the Pipeline.

Well...back in the day there was the ATOMIC DROP.

And one match I saw live years ago there was this Hillbilly dude who went barefoot and when he had the opponent against the ropes he stuck his foot under his nose and the guy passed out for a 3 count. hahaha. That was a finishing move!

The STF and the DDT or some other crazy move I don't know the name for from ECW.

Corey,
What is the pipeline?

Also, I'd like to see some of the bigger guys start making the refs count to 5. I loved when King Kong Bundy and Big John Stud used to do that. If I was a wrestler that's what I would do, I'm 6'8 374.

The DDT, the Flatliner, and the Diamond Cutter. Three of my favorites that are also pulled off at a moment's notice.

Jeff, the Pipeline is a form of DDT, I start with a gutwrench suplex keeping my opponent balanced on my shoulder in a back breaker, I then reverse the first action until my opponent is in the verticle position and DDT him/her into the mat. I also have variations of this depending on who I am in the ring with. I also go from the first part of this into a neck breaker and another is going into a sidewalk slam. It is very devistating. The first time I did this move was to my close friend The Eliminator Jim Fallon. At the end of the match I set up for the Pipeline, Executed it and I looked down at him and thought I broke his neck. The Tape of it also looks like I break his neck.

My all time favorite is the diamond cutter....but sadly Randy Orton has ripped it off with his "RKO".

I don't know if you guys know him but Jimmy Snucka Superfly lives four houses away from me!

In the Spring, Summer, and early Fall he's always out sunbathing in his skimply tiger outfit, and he gives out free signed photos.

That's cool Dennis. Here in KC we have quite a few around us. It gets crazy going to our argosy casino here in kc and seeing Bob Giegel working there as security.

Not only Randy Orton. Rapper Jay Z is dealing with a lawsuit from Diamond Dallas Page for using his signature Diamond Cutter hand gesture. You can read more about it at: http://www.courttv.com/people/2005/1207/......ctv.html
