Is anyone going to take the plunge on New Years day?

No one? What a bunch of wimps. LOL.

I live in Florida and it isn't very cold here or snowing. I might if I could find a place.

I gotta tell ya, VG...I did it once in my twenties...on a dare...while living in Great Falls, Montana...on New Years Day. It took me two weeks with a heavy duty hair dryer and a pair of tongs to pull my "boys" free again. Never again! No sir! Huh uh! Not a chance! It was shortly after this incident, in fact, that I gave up drinking.

Nope, because here in Portland, the rivers are polluted beyond comprehension. The city officials were secretly releasing raw sewage into the Willamette. Someone correct me if I am wrong.

Don't feel bad guys. I wouldn't do it either. LOL. The only time I ever tried something like that was when I fell through the ice, up to my armpits, when I was 11 years old. Scared and froze the HELL out myself.

I don't think so...

I've taken a cold -- as in COLD -- shower twice in my life. Once when the starter in the furnace broke. I was about sixteen or seventeen, and this was in winter in San Francisco. The second time was in the Army, when we showed up at Camp Roberts one time late at night and nobody had turned on the hot water.

Lemme put it this way... I can relate to what Skip's talking about.

Evidently, Orange County is wimp central, as far as polar bears go. According to the Register, a New Year's plunge in Huntington Beach attracted 30 hardy souls willing to brave the bone-chilling 54 degree waters of the Pacific. I was not among them

From what you say it seems like Orange County is wimp central in a lot of areas! At least there is still a few guys like you trying to keep em in check. LOL
