Michael Close's Workers series contains some of the most commercial, entertaining, and powerful magic ever published – repertoire that spans almost 30 years of professional performing in real-world conditions. Michael has held nothing back. You’ll learn the how and the why behind every routine.
"This is a complete revitalization of the Workers books, including an improved and expanded layout, corrected text, larger illustrations, and extensive annotations that cover insights and innovations that have been discovered since the books were first published. This is the Workers series the way I wish it could have looked when I first brought them out." Michael Close This new Ebook contains updated comments, bonus material, and a new and improved layout and two bonus tricks. More than 650 pages!" Anyone have this version? How does it compare to the books? Is it actually much better than the books, and easy to navigate?
The great trouble with magicians is the fact that they believe when they have bought a certain trick or piece of apparatus, and know the method or procedure, that they are full-fledged mystifiers. -- Harry Houdini

I own the individual Workers books and I purchased this ebook as a download and reviewed it on my blog a few weeks ago.
I have to tell you, even people who own the originals will absolutely love the ebook. There are enough annotations and changes and tweaks to make it well worth your while to purchase a copy, but the material is the reason you buy this. The series is called "Workers" for a reason -- and people who regularly perform close-up magic for other human beings quickly realize why Close called them by that name. These are proven performance pieces that have already been refined and polished to such an extent that you can focus on putting you into the presentation; not trying to work out handling that "works.". I can't recommend this highly enough. John |

Thanks John, I usually read your blog when I get a chance and always enjoy it. I will check out your review, and thanks for the recommendation.

I have to agree with John. I got this at Close's lecture here in Seattle last year and it's a great buy. I don't own the originals but I did print out and have comb bound at Kinko's, volume 3 because that is the volume of material I was least familier with...
I can't imagine anyone being disappointed in this ebook. |

I have this ebook and I can only recommend it. I use several effects in my act, among them "The Big Surprise", "El Cheapo MagicClub", "Ring Fright" and "A Trick for O´Brian".

I have the ebook. I love the ebook. I was also encouraged to purchase a copy of the follow up, Closely Guarded Secrets which, for all intents and purposes, could have been called Workers 6. I highly recommend any of Michael Close's products. You always get more than you pay for.

Can someone help me?
What is the basic difference between the Workers books and DVDs/videos? (apart from the price). If I bought the DVDs rather than the printed/download version would I be missing anything? (Or vice versa of course) |

Yes. The Workers videos do not cover all the material in the books, and the conversations with Ammar and Mead are abbreviated versions of the essays.
If you like Close's work, you'll want both. The books for study and the videos so you can watch him do your favorite routines whenever you want. |

I completely agree with wsduncan. I started with the books (ebook, actually) and later purchased the DVD series. They are an absolute compliment to each other and I recommend getting both. Michael Close is a terrific story telling performer. The DVDs offer a chance to see him in action and bring the workers to life. The added benefit of the Ammar and Mead roundtable is just that much more icing on the cake.
