Just wondering, is there a video on the net somewhere of David Copperfield's illusion Appearing Car?

As far as I know Copperfield has not released any video of this illusion - So I do not think you will find video of his car appearance - Although I might be wrong -

You mean the one done after
***SPOILERS*** LOTTO PREDICTION? haven't seen this one too but have heard all the buzz and raves.
I would, however contest that there is in REALITY very little pportunity to perform what could actually be termed "close-up" magic.

Last time I saw his show, the car appearance was still out of the act because one of his trucks got into an accident. Despite the fact that the official word was that "No props were hurt," it seemed that this particular effect recieved enough damage to warrant its temporary removal from the show.
Maybe I'll get to see it next time I see him (whenever that is). Nick Fox |

As far as I know* there hasn't been a TV special since Tornado Of Fire and no info on whenever the next one is likely to be.
So unless someone sneaked a camera in and made a pirate video (Unlikely) no video of it exists. *As I'm from England, we haven't seen a special for 10 years so what would I know!
Winner of the Dumbringer Award for total incompetence. (All years)

The car Illusion was not in ANY of the versions from tordado either (international or US)
I would almost guarantee it'd be in the next special. |

I hear that the DC Crew DOES video tape every show to evaluate each performance.... also for copyright purposes and the like...
but it is FOR THEIR EYES ONLY.

I was lucky enough to be on stage with David Copperfield when he did this illusion. Two thumbs way up!

I have not seen that one - I'd like to, though.
By the way, is it faster than the one I recently designed? I'm still fine-tuning it Julian

Blaine or Angel would like your version. No camera tricks or editing...OK...... forced perspective ....YES. The method is the same as Lance Burton's appearing bus illusion. This isn't an illusion you can perform anywhere. That exact spot you are filming on is crutial for this effect to work. AND...isn't it strange how the audio is missing from that video? Hmmmm????? I don't meant to sound negative...it looks great. I'm just concerned we're going for to many "tv magic" tricks these days. Best, Tim |

True, Tim - the perspective is pretty crucial. Although I do have a similar version which can be done with a live audience...
http://www.julianbondmusic.com/Media/Jul......0Box.wmv http://www.julianbondmusic.com/Media/Jul......0Box.mov ...although this is with a motorbike, but same kind of thing. I agree with you about the "TV magic", although Copperfield uses quite a bit of "specific camera angles" in some of his pre-filmed segments. But then I'm not Copperfield! Ha! Oh man - I'd love to see his version. Thanks for your feedback, Tim. Totally appreciated. Julian

Hi Julian,
Yes, you really have to see his version. A friend of mine was one of the volunteers on stage and was amazed at how he was prevented from seeing how the effect worked. The motorcyle appearance looked good as well. Thanks for sharing. Forced perspective or no.... you're very clever for seeing the opportunity to utilize that location. (I bet that video really freaks people out.) You must have a magical mind... Keep thinking outside the box. I'll be waiting to see what you come up with next. Best, Tim |

I can't see the force in this clip no matter how many times I look at it.
Great clip Julian. |

Thank you so much, guys. Yes, if you keep watching the clip you will eventaully see where the bike was hidden. It will hit you like a brick!
OK, so here's one I did steal (shamelessly) from David Copperfield. It's the Motorcycle Metamorphosis, but I figured there would be a way of doing this with no stage set up - again the parking lot, a favorite of mine)... http://www.julianbondmusic.com/Media/Jul......nspo.wmv http://www.julianbondmusic.com/Media/Jul......nspo.mov Not nearly as neat as DC's and I have never performed it for an audience (except the few buddies who were watching this filming). This was just for fun! Still hot in Orlando...
