Just some random things I always wondered....

What is that liquid stuff actors use to make themselves cry?
Is it pretty safe to use?

Anyone?

Would be nice if I ever do a play again.

Any help appreciated.

Some use Glycerine, some use Menthol fumes blown into the eyes.

FWIW

Cheers! Smile

Ditto to what Stanyon said and there's also just bringing them up for real using sense memory or other acting techniques.

Apparently when Marlon Brando was doing the stage version of Streetcar he wasn't always sure if he could bring up the tears in a certain scene so he had pieces of onion stashed that he would smash into his eyes just before the scene... hey, whatever it takes.

Some actors just think about what they are getting paid...

Hey, I want to cry, not curl up in catatonic shock!

Onion Power!

Or thinking of how much my first wife got.....

:bawl:
Will you walk into my parlour? said the Spider to the Fly,
Tis the prettiest little parlour that ever you did spy;
The way into my parlour is up a winding stair,
And I've a many curious things to show when you are there.

Oh no, no, said the little Fly, to ask me is in vain,
For who goes up your winding stair
-can ne'er come down again.

Wasn't it somewhere I read or saw about Shirley temple, and one of her strong points was her ability to bring on the rain at the drop of a hat!

Some have that talent just built in. I once worked with an actress (Florencia Lozano) on off-Broadway play and she had that gift. Not only was she a brilliant actress, but she had complete control of the tears... on, off, on, off on dime. That was magic to watch.

Ya' know, I think I'm not too far of with my observation that the female of our species are ESPECIALLY talented at this! (married men, you should know what I am saying!)
