Magic shops in the real world seem to not like Icarus effect(as in they don't stock it). Online stores stock it and I have asked questions and waited for days. Still, I get no response. All I am asking is if I can pay using a money order? No one is even giving me a reply.Hanklee,icaruseffect.com,hocus-pocus,......ugh.....
All complaining aside. Here is my issue......... I want to buy icarus effect. I have a presentation planned to it. I know it is EXACTLY what I want. Thing is, as mentioned before, online shops aren't responding to my emails and the only levitation carried by my local dealers=Masterminds V.2. I know this has been asked before but no one seemed to give a concrete answer for one reason or another. Is it possible to modify the Angel Levitation so it is like Icarus?Or is it completely different method? Oh yeah and I would also appreciate a good answer to the question of "Is it hard to get the Angel levitation materials?" I want to face the audience members. EXACTLY like Icarus for presentation reason. Any help is greatly appreciated as always. |

Hi unilogo,
both version differ. You will not be able to change criss into the Icarus effect. Icarus is much more "natural" than the version of Criss. And don*t believe that you will "fly" as high as criss is doing this in several levitations with him. greetings |

Just these days I was in contact with several dealers.
If you have the money, take it and try icarus. The only prob is: once when Icarus is adopted to your body it seems to be hard to sell the effect to other persons. the gimmick wont fit in most case. Only with the buyer has the same figur as you. Criss can be sold, I mean the dvd. The rest must also be done new. Icarus will be more natural in my opinion. You turn your face to the people. Greetings |

The main part of the gimmick in Icarus Effect consists of what has become known as the "space age material", and because of its peculiar properties, it can be re-fashioned to suit another person of the same approximate height.
Unilogo, I've pm'd you with a way to contact Aaron Paterson, the creator of Icarus Effect, directly. He will be happy to deal with you. - entity

I have always found Arron to be a great guy who is ready to help.
I am surprised he has not answered you. Also try Mike @ http://www.mikedanatasmagicstudio.co.uk e-mail: danata@lineone.net he has always answer my questions and is a very helpful and genuine guy. I am about to buy Icarus myself after giving up with the E2, and chris's lev, well it is just impolite to turn your back on your audience, plus I like to see the look on their face when I perform the effect ;o) It's so hard to decide, I've sooooo much magic filling my spare room that never gets aired simply because I was fooled by the video/demo. I'm determined not to waste any more money Good luck & let us know how you get on! |

Hi ofrmagic.
Yes, I have the E2. I am swaying towards Icarus rather than criss's one. |

I ,too, own elevator 1 and 2 and am disappointed with both; moreso with 2 than 1. Peter Loughran, however, who produces the items seems like a great guy, responding to phone calls, sharing information, replacing parts etc. It's just that the effect itself requires much practice, and, at least with E2, is built rather flimsily. Mine self-destructed after about 20 practice sessions. I never bothered to send in for stronger pins. Good concept, not strong enough. Noisy too. And it tends to flash at the end (I can't elaborate without exposing).
Icarus Effect, on the other hand, (which I also own), is truly killer. So many posibilities... If you're creative, you can modify it and make it even better than it is as sold. By utilizing a blanket as a shawl (the shaman's wonder blanket or some such thing), it can even be done surrounded. I only wish Steve Fearson had been given a little bit of credit. I believe Fearson's Floatation came first (although I'm not entirely sure about this, since the creator of Icarus says he has been doing this for 10 years) and if it did, should certainly be given credit for being a step along the way in the creatiion of this incredible effect. Icarus effect is truly awsome. The temptation the perform it more than once per demonstration should, however, be avoided. As with most magic. --- Steve Bosque |

Aaron Paterson, the creator of Icarus Effect is a good friend of mine. He showed me the prototype version of this way back in 1994. At that time, Fearson's Levitation was pretty new, and I know that Aaron wasn't aware of it yet.
Gary Kurtz performed the Fearson Lev. on a Magic Special that I created, and that was the first time that Aaron had seen it. He created Icarus Effect before that, and so, as far as I know, was not influenced by the Fearson Lev. - entity

Hi together,
Criss Angel can be seen in many *different* levitation effects. Only one he is selling. But if you don't know this and believe with one bought DVD you can "fly" high like Criss is doing it: 100% thought the way wrong. And that is the prob. Even when Criss is showing his DVD effect, you will see people right standing next to him. These people can 100% definetly see how the effect is to be done! What do these people of the so called "audience": the starr at him and give the same frenetic applaus like the audience behind him. This is the prob. Criss is not fair to all dvd buyers at fakes them. The effect is not strong enough. But if you don't know this, you *WILL* be disappointed after watching 1 hour and about 30 minutes of his stuff. I like creators which don't have to fake even buyers of the effect! Greetings |

Entity-
Thanks for the backround history on Icarus. Sorry if I steered anyone wrong with regards to Fearson's influence on Aaron's effect. My bad. Like I say, I love the Icarus Effect. I'm getting great reactions. What a cool levitation. --- Steve Bosque |

No the materials in the Criss Angel levitation are not hard to find. If there is a mall near you you can find these materials. I would rather spend half as much and do some thinking to reverse the direction you are facing with the Angel levitation.

Modifying Criss' to Icarus would be possible, but not probable. In every way except price, Icarus beats Criss' levitation. Simply put, you get what you pay for.

Those of you that have Criss's. have you built your gimick? Do you wear it around for long amounts of time?

I see a lot that some users seem to be so bias towards Icarus Effect, that everytime I try and ask a question regarding Criss' lev, they dismiss my question as being pointless.
My question is clear.. can the Criss Angel levitation be created to look just like if performing the Icarus Effect from the front? And if yes that would satisfy my question. If no, then they are not similar. But, if it is yes, then the two levs are similar and for those of you who prefer to create their magic personally, I do not see why not, then getting your personal tailor to create this for you would not be such a problem. It's like getting a custom tailored suite. Except it doesn't have to be a suit - could be plain old jeans. Varsace eat your heart out!!! |
