Anyone have some facts and/or figures on how the internet has affected the magic mail order business?

My web site delivers 1/3 of all my business, and I never need to actively persue anyone. I understand almost everyone will disagree with me, but I have had a web site for 7 years, and it has kept me busy without having to beat the bushes for work. Originally I advertised in kids magazines, but the internet brings me a higher class of customers, and all I do is answer inqueries from local people who are looking for ME.
I LOVE CYBER SPACE Al

How can anyone disagree with YOUR personal results? Oh wait I forgot where we were for a second.
the internet has made the world "smaller" in effect and made it easier to communicate, sell services. I agree whole heartedly!

So has the old snail mail way of doing the mail order business been completely replaced by the internet?

HEY HEY HEY
There are books, DVD, lecture notes, and a multitude of self appointed experts that insist you must get down on hands and knees and beg uninterested people for their business in order to be a success. I honestly did not expect anyone to agree with me. I guess the only thing left for me to do now is to write a silly book in order to make money off magicians too. Naa on second thought I'm no expert, and I don't want that kind of money. I'll just sit here and wait for my next phone call, or email from someone who is desperately looking for entertaiment. HONEST Al

I normally buy from "brick" stores...I have never purchased over the net, but it could happen. I do however order over the telephone. Nothing against the net, I look at the products on the net(catalog) but I like to speak to the person I am sending my money when I complete my transaction.

Okay, Al, you big ol' goofy man, we're all mad at you for misunderstanding the question!
I think that the internet has to have had an impact. But most businesses who do M.O. also advertise on the 'net. When I get my Stevens catalog, it lists the same items I can find on Stevens' site (although their site is cluttered, so the catalog manages to highlight "hot" items.) I also think it's difficult to peruse the internet magic site when I'm on the toilet. Smetimes the catalogs ARE better. |

Starrpower, I wish you could see the smile on my face after reading your post. My wife thought that I was the only person to race to the restroom with a new catalog in tow.
That was a funny post. Best Regards, James |
