In your opinion what is the best way to vanish a coin and show your hands completly empty at the end?

By completely empty, do you mean that they appear empty or that the coin is actually somewhere else?
For me, it would be my retention vanish (URV) and either ditching the coin (sl---ing, etc.) or hiding it through acquitments. Some like the Messiah Vanish which Sankey has popularized Using a gaff can produce amazing results: Jeff Stewarts NUSINUD, or Cornelius' Fickled Nickel |

I vote for the old chestnut of retention vanish followed by rubbing the coin into your upraised elbow till it's gone. Just don't move your head! ;-)

Tough to pick a "best" or even a favorite (so many good ones to choose from) but lately I've been revisiting some of David Williamson's older material and I really like "The Wonderful Coin Vanish" and also "The Striking Vanish." You'll need to clean yourself up at the end, but he gives some great ideas for this and when all is said and done you should be able to show both hands empty. I like Larry's work as well. You should check out his web site.

Hey, that vanish of the last coin Godhandz does in his new "Flash Coins Re-Lit" vid posted here is just beautiful, very nicely done and wonderfully creative. You also can't beat Mickey Silver's SUV. He can do some awesome things with it. Quite remarkable in a vid or in person!

In Ellison Poland's "Wonderful Routines of Magic", in the "Addenum..." I think, there is a "One Coin Routine" that finishes with a complete vanish. I have no idea if this fits into your plans, but the routine looks like this: You show both hands empty and put one hand in your pocket. With the other hand you reach out in the air and grab. When you open your hand there is a coin, (a half dollar, for instance..). You close your hand on the coin, blow on it, and when you open your hand the coin has changed to an English Penny. You repeat the action and the coin changes back to a half. One more time, and the coin vanishes completely! So, a one-handed, one-coin, routine - production, changes, and vanish - worth a look...

I first thought it was the retention pass. When I saw Mickey Silver video it convinced me his method is better.

A good ol retention vanish, followed by a Ramsey and kaps subtelty works for me. I never liked the messiah vanish, it looks kinda fishy to me.
I use to show my hands empty by using the wiped clean (david stone method), but I stopped doing that. It has nothing to with being natural in my opinion. A spider vanish works oke for me as well. |

I like the Himber vanish - you really do see the coin go into the other hand.
Then an acquitment or la****g if seated. |

The best coin vanish with appearance of empty hands at completion is, without doubt or fear of contridiction, the one that works best for you
Some nights a simpe ROV vanish works best, some nights another method is needed. Whatever you feel comfortable with, and works with your style and performance speed is the best one for you. Best, Mike |

Slydini's method - but you have to be sitting at a table. It looks like pure magic.

Mike makes a very good point. The situation will dictate.
But, with that said, the one vanish that I love where you truly end clean (hands empty), is Revolution. Skarn

Skarn,Revolution IS very clean, but to illustrate Mike's point, I can't get away with it easily. Having my hands so close to my body isn't part of my natural body language, and I feel it would certainly give me away. I've just looked at Platt's vanish from another thread - it's right up there. Check it out if you haven't already.

In your own words you say "I feel it would certainly give me away...". Again, I felt this way too, but just try it! As unnatural as you think it is (and I'm not denying that), I have NEVER been caught doing it and have done it MANY times. Skarn

Hey guys I'm very pleased I came accross this thread. I have a new one coin and silk routine that I would love to end with a bare hand vanish. I was just trying to make a list of different methods I knew.
With out giving away method, where can I see some discriptions or clips of some of the moves your talking about? Mickey Silver? NUSINUD? Where can I learn more? --Chris

The basic idea is not new, however the video and booklet discuss some intriguing ideas. Something worth exploring IMHO. Shane Wiker has a short video clip of Mickey in action on his site.
