I wish they were. I don't have any ceramic Indian cups. At least Pete could look at them once in a while.

Bill has really put together an amazing resource on the history of the trick and the stylistic progression of the cups. There exists no other, single place (that I know of) where anyone can see and learn so much about it. The museum may be a hobby for Bill, but it is a service to magic.

Thanks for your kind wrods, all of you.
It's not just a hobby for me. It goes much deeper than that, because it's an offshoot of what I did for a living for so many years. The interesting thing is the story that some of those cups can tell. I can imagine the conversations they overheard, the times they got dropped, the time some street performer pounded on their bottoms with a stick.

On a more serious note, this museum is awesome! I found the shell game section particularly fascinating as this is something I've been working on for a while.
Kudos to you, Sir! |

A tremendous and facinating collection Bill, thanks for putting it up on the net so those of us who can't just run down to Houston to see it IRL can enjoy it.

Some have wondered why I took a leave of absence from the Café. Over the past few days, I have been photographing the latest additions to the cups and balls museum and posting them on the web site.
The number of cup sets in the museum is almost growing out of control. Keeping track of what I have, what I have photographed and what I have posted is a very demanding job. Combining this with reveiwing material for MUM and running a publishing house has proven to be a very daunting task. So I took a few days off from the Café. Anyway, there are new cups on almost every page. There are two new sets of jumbo cups, some new Paul Fox cups as well as clones, new chop cups, new mini cups and new magic set cups. There is even a set of Burtini cups at the bottom of the traditional cups page. So come by and visit -- http://www.cupsandballsmuseum.com. And, if you are interested -- I'll be doing a lecture on the history of the cups at the TAOM convention in Dallas. I have prepared a Power Point presentation, so everyone can see how the cups developed.

Bill-
Have you written a book, manuscript etc. (other that your e-book) on the cups and balls? Also, what is your current number of sets of cups and balls? Thanks! |

I don't generally let out the total number of cups and balls sets. There are more than 300 sets, though.
I haven't written anything besides my e-book, but there is something about the history in the works right now.

Hey Bill,
Lucky for us you weren't into collecting Match Box Cars! A book on the illustrated history of the C&Bs woud be a wonderful contributrion to the magic literature. You would definately be the person to write it. And, I hope you make millions on the royaties! Anyone with your passion should be well compensated! Thank you for your affliction and your generosity. |

I love your museum, Bill. I learn new things every time I visit.
I am wondering if you have ever considered putting a list of final loads for the cups? In addition, I think a "New Additions" page is a good idea for those who just want to drool at your cups Steven |

It's hard enough just keeping things categorized. The last time I posted photos, there were close to three dozen.

Fantastic collection! I always enjoy trying to spot the new additions.
I have six locks on my door all in a row. When I go out, I only lock every other one. I figure no matter how long somebody stands there picking the locks, they are always locking three. Elayne Boosler

Okay. There are some new additions to the museum. This time, there are several in the Rounded Cups category, including some new ones from Jedinat and Jeff Busby.
In Jumbo Cups, there are new cups from Magic Hands, courtesy of Borodin, and a nice set of PF/DD chick cups. Also, a traditional style jumbo cup from Morrissey. It's a nice set of cups. In traditional cups, there is a gold anodized set of Davenport cups, and the set I once thought was a set of old Davenport cups has been reidentified as Burtini cups. Chop cups has a new Ken Brooke chop cup set. There are some shell game sets from Jedinat, chrome plated and gold plated. And there are some neat mini cups that I found at a pewtersmith's in Regensburg, Germany. Enjoy! Also, check out the page of balls for the fake fruit.
