I seem to remember a book called The Road Hustler by Sharpe (?).
I Never read it but it sure sounds like the general topic of your interest. |

I also enjoyed American Roulette. The History Channel did an hour long show detailing the author and much of what was written in the book.
The Magician and the Cardsharp : The Search for America's Greatest Sleight-of-Hand Artist is a good read and can be found on Amazon. Busting Vegas : The MIT Whiz Kid Who Brought the Casinos to Their Knees and Bringing Down the House: The Inside Story of Six M.I.T. Students Who Took Vegas for Millions are both good quick reads and cover the MIT blackjack teams. Last I heard, this was going to be made into a movie. Both are available on Amazon. If you are into poker and follow any of the players, Aces and Kings is a good book. Also, One of a Kind : The Rise and Fall of Stuey "The Kid" Ungar, The World's Greatest Poker Player is a good read about a really interesting guy. However, the best and most interesting gambling read I have had to date is The Banker, the Professor and the Suicide King. Hope that is of some help. Michael

That should keep you going for a while! ps - I travel quite a bit for work, so I read a lot on planes and in airports and hotel rooms.

Jim Swain books are good. Also there are some good real life stuff on the Scoundrels site. I also found some real old books, now EBooks, at a university site that can be read for free but I can't find the link right now, Arnold Rothstien etc. Doc here at the Café has regaled us with some good stuff.
Are you looking for patter/storylines for gambling routines?

Is this the road Hustler that Richard Kaufman put out? Amazon has it for around $200 or so.

One of my favorite books on hustling isn't about cards, but about pool. It is called "Playing Off The Rail" by David McCumber. It's about a guy and his stakehorse that travel around the US hustling pool. Coincidentally a couple of the guys I knew that hustled pool are mentioned in the book. One of the guys that he took that is mentioned in the book is one of the biggest jerks I have ever met.

American Roulette is a wonderful book- pick it up and you won't be able to put it down. Another book I enjoyed was Burning the Tables in Las Vegas.
