A few weeks I found one. I cannot remember where I saw it. Anyone have any ideas where I can find it?
Thanks,
Mike

Vienna Magic made one. I have one of them and had to make several alterations to make it vanish more effectively.
I ultimately had MagicMakers in Canada custom make one for me. They did a fine job using the facade of a real boom box.
Good luck.

If you see one up close you will notice it looks very fake. I looked one over but didn't buy it.
The vanish was good enough, but it didn't look real.
I would save the money on this one if I were you.

As for it looking bad in person, I can not comment on as I have not seen it right up close. But from the audience seeing it on stage it is very convincing.

It just seems that the prop is alive past its time. I know that there has been some discussion on this, but I also beleive that it is out of place in most contemporary acts. It can find a home in certain acts. Don't get me wrong, its a great effect. But I would love to see a modernized version of this, more like the ones you see at the sharper image now.

Regarding the Vienna Magic model....as you will notice, it is resting on a table with a very flimsy pole going down to a small base (you can't see that far in the link's photo).
Eugene Burger was helping me write the show I do with orchestra that utilized the stereo.
His first comment was regarding the pole and base suggesting that a table like that wouldn't properly support a real boom box. That made sense.
So, I had a new base made and ended up putting in 5 poles as supports. It stabilized the entire item and gave it a more realistic look. Ultimately, I abandoned that model due to the fact that though I never had it fail, it came close. One video I have of a performance showed my hands having to do a bit more work than normal trying to get the thing to do what it's supposed to do.....I won't go past that.
As I mentioned in my PM to you, the one that was custom made worked much faster, smoother, and slightly quieter. You must have music covering the moment of vanish.
And....if you wear a body mic, be sure your sound man turns it off during that moment.
Good luck
