With the amazing revival of interest in peeks lately (at least on this forum) I have been diligently researching, looking for the best one to learn.
What it appears I’m learning is that everything is essentially a version of Acidus Novus. Is that correct? Obsidian Oblique (with Greg Arce’s copy at $300 and rising right now on that auction site!) is said to be clever handlings of Acidus. The versions I already do come from Richard Osterlind’s DVDs and are called Acidus Plus—they’re of course versions of Acidus Novus. (Or perhaps the Azonic Force… which is said to be ANOTHER version of Acidus.) Busch’s Billet, a favorite of many, is said to be a version of Acidus as well. So, can I save the $300+ for OO and the $150 for the new AN package (though it’s great to see Millard Longman get his due) and $65 for Peek Encores – and maybe $175 for that cool Stealth Assassin – and just keep experimenting with the version I already know? |

You asked; Quote: "and just keep experimenting with the version I already know? "
I think that is true although the different books give a lot of different handelings that you may or may not stumble across. |

Out of fairness to the other authors, Obsidian Oblique covers two peeks, one of which is a variation of AN, the other being a full billet peek unrelated to AN.
The Busch Billet is only one of a myriad of peeks in Busch´s peek books and is the only one to be directly related to AN. The Azonic Force is a different peek to AN but first appeared in the Acidus Novus book released by Al Mann. Whilst I would encourage people to read and choose what peeks suit them best there is also the old adage of knowing 50 different ways to control a card to the top of the deck and only one way to present the effect! If you are enjoying AN and having success using it then the truth is you don´t really need anything else. I would say that although you already know the peek the new release by Millard also includes some excellent routines well worth the price alone, since there seem to be fewer peek routines in print than actual peeks! |

Nimrod Harel's Lair Peek is the best. I've seen many mentalists doing the same peek but Nimrod is one step ahead.

I am a major fan of Millard's work and it's worth every penny...and more, but...
Buy Richard Busch's "Peek Performances" and "Encores" and don't even look back! Ted (Leondo) |

My answer for you is YES. If you have a method that works for you, keep working with it. Common sense, my friend. Common sense! Tony |

Allow me to give an alternate comment on Encores & Performances. This is not for everybody. This was not at all for me. This very much depends on the style of performer. I am not the only one with the same opinion. If you are happy with "handling" the billets, maybe this might be of interest to you.

OO full billet move has no relation to any other peek. It's the one major contribution in the book.
The OO full billet move allows full access to the interior. The half billet move is inspired on Millard Longman's AN, and it was him who suggested I include it in the book. |

Wow. I'm honored that your first post was in response to me, Mr. Bellon. Welcome to the Café!
I'd LOVE to learn your OO billet moves. Can we ever expect another release of the material? |

I hope Alain doesn't release this again, the material in there is too powerful, and I love it!
The work on Acidus is also excellent. The psyhcology and thinking behind all of this work is what really make sit stand out from the crowd. Kennedy

But... Alain's been a member of the Café for years, and has hundreds of posts under his belt. Is this an imposter, or is he really starting again from scratch...?

Simply check the magicafe for username "Alain Bellon" and you will find his past 291 posts. Don't think the new "A l a I n B e ll o n" is a fake but rather is the same Alain Bellon with a new "s p e l l I n g".

A quick question to all the owners of OO. Where did you obtain your copys from? Direct from Mr. Bellon? or ebay?

OO in my opinion is great, but the full billet peek often becomes a 3/4 billet peek.

How do we get access to the work of Monsieur Bellon? He remains in the shadows like Karmelovich.

Fib, if you really want it, go to that famous auction site. OO is at $360 with a little more than a day to go. Me, I could never explain it to the wife.

So he's starting his membership from scratch just so he can put spaces between the letters of his name..? That makes no "s e n s e"... I doubt that was actually Alain, but who knows...
