HatTrix Blacksmith's Corner Pet Shop on Lakewood Blvd in Bellflower Ca. has doves at a reasonable price.

Jcorb, always be very careful of buying doves from a pet shop. You don't know where they came from, what their background is or even how old they really are. Pet shop owners are out to sell a product and don't really care about what you are going to use it for.

Ya I realize that Dave. But they usually have young ones there. I've bought birds there several times and have never been sorry.

It's just a chance you take. I purchased my very first dove from a pet shop and she has been fine but I wouldn't do it again.

I was contacted about doves today. The guy want $30 a dove. I thought that was kinda expensive. What do you all think?

Mike, in my opinion, $30 is a bit high but that might be because I've never paid that much for a dove. When I was raising them, I charged $10 but then I wasn't raising them for profit but to help other magicians. You also have to figure in the cost of shipping if you buy them from someone out of the area.

Dave,
It was $30 a dove plus $30 for all 3 dove to be sent out. This what amazed me they are right here in Upstate NY. If anyone is selling any doves I am looking for some soon enought. Just let me know it should be in the spring time or so. mike |

Mike, I'm assuming the shipping method was through the post office. They normally charge about $24 but with the postage increases, it may have gone up. Still, I think it's a little high. It doesn't matter whether it's shipping in state or elsewhere. You're paying for the overnight delivery.
I would contact Dakota Rose here on the Café. He has supplied quite a few members with doves. He's in Ohio. I'm not sure how much he charges for his doves, but you can trust that it's a fair price and he won't overcharge you for postage.

You can buy doves from the following e-mail:
magicdakota@aol.com http://www.dakotarosemagic.com I think Dakota sells them for $10 each and overnight ships them. He sells in pair of two's and for two doves AND shipping- I think the total comes to around $43 or so. Great breeder. Haas

What type of doves are we talking about...Java?
What is the difference when compared to ringneck doves(other than size)?
