Starrpower, I'm sorry if you took my post as yelling. In fairness the word "NO" is the only word in caps. I was just trying to be emphatic about no plans available, that's all.

Beaudini Magic said: "Like I have said before, the Magic Café is supposed to be a forum for magicians to help each other, give positive feedback, and honest reviews."
Yeah, but many of you guys don't like it when someone posts an HONEST review. You only want to hear what you want to hear. If you want an honest review, be prepared for some negative feedback, as well as positive feedback. You can't welcome constructive criticsim but then get all defensive and stand-offish when the critiques are negative or you don't agree with them. I agree that this should be a place for honest review. There should be no limits as to "how honest" either. There should be no problem at all with postings that address problems and consumer complaints about certain illusions and/or illusion builders. |

Rory,
You are exactly right. I am not a builder, just a student/magician. I agree with you 100%. I have no problem with reviews positive or negative. The only problem I have is when members purposely demean others as a result of past discrepancies or bad blood. A review should be honest, good or bad, but holding grudges and having a personal vendetta is what I so strongly disagree with. Thank you for your input, and I hope we can all take a step back, and look at this fabulous illusion Jack has just released. Sincerely, Beau Alexander

Rory,
I just noticed this was your first post. Welcome to the Magic Café! Hopefully you will enjoy your stay here, and avoid negative threads and agruments like we just had. This really is a great resource, and I hope you did not join as a result of this. Remember to fill out your profile, as it makes it much easier for others to understand who you are, and where you are coming from. Again, welcome, and I hope that the Café will do for your career what it has done for mine. Sincerely, Beau Alexander

OK, here we go again.
You said "The only problem I have is when members purposely demean others as a result of past discrepancies or bad blood. A review should be honest, good or bad, but holding grudges and having a personal vendetta is what I so strongly disagree with." Look, you can't have your cake and eat it too. If someone had a past problem with a merchant or a builder, yes, it does reflect on that builder's current business practices. An unresolved past discrepancy, especially if it was a monetary transaction, is a perfectly legitimate component of a "review". That is why we have organizations like the Better Business Bureau, or the Office of Consumer Protection. Would you accuse them of having a "Grudge" or a "Vendetta" by logging and publishing consumer complaints? These histories of public opinion are how companies build a reputation, be it good or bad. |

Dear Rory,
As far as my friend Jack Murray goes, his issue happend over six years ago, and he has not had a complaint since. A review is a review, it is my personal opinion that if someone has a problem with someone else, they should deal with them directly, man to man, over the phone or in person, not on the Magic Café or over e-mail if at all possible. Sometimes people need to bury the hatchet, and move on. I do not believe in going out of ones way to do harm to another. None of us are perfect, and we all must realize that at one time we have all done something we are not proud of, whether we knew we were wrong or not. A sad example of my point happend just yesterday...A good friend of mine, whom I played high school sports with, and went all through scouting with was just struck by a train and killed yesterday, he was only nineteen years old, and left behind four younger brothers and sisters. God Bless Him, and R.I.P. I know this was probably a pretty harsh and drastic example, but we all need to remember to be kind to one another everyday, because you never know which day will be your last. I feel extremely bad that this topic has become such a fight, but it would be nice if everyone could talk and work these problems out. The past is the past, life is too short to be argue all the time. I hope that all of you are okay, and that we can all take positive steps toward becoming an even closer Brotherhood of Magicians helping each other out. Well, this is becoming a rant, and I need to go, but hopefully my point is now clear. Sincerely, Beau Alexander P.S. Sometimes more than just one person is at fault, and all it takes is a simple apology to correct a bad situation, "It takes two to tango," none of us should forget that, me included. Thanks, and God Bless.

Hi Mike,
I believe you have to download divix in order for it to work. After I did that, it played perfectly for me in windows media. Hope it helps. -Beau

I also couldn't play the video. ( at first) I strongly suggest taking the time to make it Windows Media or Quicktime compatible. In the meantime if you are using Mac OS X you can view it with VLC ( Video Lan Client ) Media player.

I was trying to avoid any unnecessary downloads but your right ...that worked.
This looks great but for some reason presentation ideas are not jumping out at me. I'll have to give that some thought because this illusion did fool me. |

Mike, I have been thinking about incorporating it into a Halloween themed show. Very strong magic, and a real fooler. It got me too.

Rory,
I know what I wrote. His product was the subject of this initial discussion. A man of character may have included a simple, "Im sorry to hear of the passing of your friend." Thanks again, and hopefully we can now discuss the topic at hand. -Beau

I am sorry about the unessary downloads. Currently I am working on trying to properly convert the DVD to a better format (quicktime) to be viewed on the web. This wont come for about a few weeks. Also you will notice a few edits need to be done to make the picture quality better and delete extra material.

Does anyone know what the size and weight is with and without the ATA case?
|

Jack Murray Special user St. Petersburg Fl. 773 Posts |
Mike, this will break down to approx. 32" X 48" X 2" without the case and built from aluminum. It will weigh approx. 25lbs, and approx. 50lbs. w/case.

Spignataro...
What about converting it over to flash. That is how we have done video on our site. I thin we have only had one person that had trouble viewing it. I don't know if that's the best way, but it has worked well for us thus far. MikeDes...as far as presentations go. Lance Richardson came up with several differnt ones. The version on the video is a speaking straight forward approach. We have worked with a silent version set to music. Lance has one that focuses more on choreography for a stage performer, a girl rolling out of silk or rope from above...really turning it into a beautiful piece. But, like it wasn't already. We have been at Sean Scott's studio and had magicians and lay people alike less than ten feet away from it and it fooled every one of them. Kevin
