I know that birds can contract West Nile Virus, but I was wondering if this is a problem for doves. There have been confirmed cases around me of infected crows and wrens that I know of, and no telling how many cases that go undetected.

Can doves get this disease. If I get some doves, they would have to be kept outdoors, so is West Nile a possible concern?

All native species as well as several non native species have been reported as being infected with the West Nile Virus. As mosquitoes are the vector for the disease your doves would be at risk if kept outdoors. There are precautions that you can take to lower or minimize the risk by eliminating mosquito breeding areas or use netting etc. But again this only minimizes the risk.

Just spray your doves with bug repellant and they should be fine.
