Just putting this out there to all of you. I have owned ferrets for many years and use them in my show. I was just curious if anyone else does as well. I have a USDA licence for them as is required for most mammals used in performances. But just interested in any types of illusions any of you might use.

I think there's someone who posted about using ferrets in the previous threads or maybe it was also you?
PERFORM MAGIC AND NOT "PUZZLES" so the audience wont try to "figure out how its done".

I used a ferret in my act until the little guy got cancer and passed on. I can post a clip if you would like. THey are very curious and won't stay put, but they aren't noisey and mine loved the attention. I would just produce him from a circus wagon, with a circus theme in the background. Very funny.

Caveat,
I have 4 ferrets, and they're great! I love them! I don't use them in shows or anything, but was thinking about getting the product out there called 'Doves to Rabbit', and instead of a rabbit, maybe I could change them into a ferret or two... I am not going to get this, though, because I only have one dove, and I think its out of my price range... Hope this helps! -Vinnie PS... Justin, a video would be great! |

I was actually thinking of building a cannon to shoot the ferret out of and have them appear across the room or in a cage of some sort. Just a note to any of you using mammals in your act other than rabbits and rodents, you need to have them licenced with the USDA if they are performing animals. Most people get away with it for many many years without, but if someone from an animal organization reports you and USDA comes out they can fine you for each animal not registered. Just a little FYI for you guys.

I use to perform with a ferret in my show. The only problem was he wasn't potty trained. I had to put him near the end of the show.

This passed week I stayed at Ricker and Syd's house while I was lecturing and doing some studio work for DVDs in Muscle Shoals. The house is run by three ferrets. They are much more fun than cats. Cats I've lived with but never ferrets. I think they are probably smarter than cats. But I would never recommend them for a magic act. They are too busy. That is too bad because they would be so easy to load. They will gladly go anywhere. (I can't say that about rabbits.)
I can see how you would get attached to them very quickly. They can master humans in a heartbeat. Bob Sanders Magic By Sander |
