Randy is the father of the modern exposure show. If you look at the structure of his shows on NOVA, you will find that this is the format the other expositors have adopted. My argument has been that it exposure is bad for magic in general. For some reason you seem to think that Randi is taking money out of my pocket. I never said that he was. When Randi stands up and begins his cold reading, nothing but the Barnum effect, a script that he has been reading for years, he confirms to my sitters that I AM PSYCHIC. I don't give generic details that would fit 98% of the country, I give details specific to that individual. What Randi spouts is what magicians are taught as cold reading lines. What is on Lee Earle's original Classic Reading. Randi is actually good for my business! But he is bad for most who practice mental magic, or possibly others working in psychic entertainment. Because they use magical methods. I use the methods of the psychics.
My primary market of the past 10 years has been the college market, the college market in Massachusetts. Harvard, MIT, colleges that house some of the nations most brilliant young adults. I've been asked back for 10 years. Tony |

I prove it every Day. I have a story of Supernatural activity to the N'th degree, but I'm afraid revealing it here would be "Casting Pearls Before Swine".
Convince me I'm wrong....???

Slim: You really must learn to read.
I said if one buys into the Big Bang Theory, it might be seen as supernatural. But if the Big Bang exists, and was a part of nature, then calling it "Super"-natural would be incorrect. Calm down. Breathe. Take a little more medication. Saying you DON'T know when you honestly have no proof is much smarter than saying that you DO know when you're just guessing. Those needing a visual reference to a deep thinker need only look to your avatar, Slim. - entity

Doing what Tony? A mentalism show? I know you don't want to answer that with routine examples, but I am curious what you are doing in general.
Posted: Feb 6, 2006 3:32pm Why doesn't Randi go after Major Dames? I think Dames is as big a rip off as anybody. jack said he would, but I have not heard if that is going to happen. |

For the colleges mostly I am a reader. Tarot and Palms.
I don't do private readings, as it is against my personal ethics. I also perfrom other psychic entertainment (on stage/platform) and do the occasional hypnotism show. I enjoy performing psychic house parties. Children's magic is not my forte. I did enough of that when I was younger and burned myself out. I did an illusion show when I lived in the Far East, as well as doing a club act in South Korea and in Japan. Some of my magic time is taken up with the SAM. Tony |

So I can see where you are coming from better. You are doing a public palm reading type of show.
Does the college pay you for that or the students? |

College. It is a free, fun activity for the students. Readings are done one on one.
Stage shows would involve a Q&A segment. Different beasts. Tony |

Look at your avatar Entity...Nothing...Hiding, that's what you do. I'm just having fun...But this part is serious. Let's get started!
Facts: Science or Miracle?; Holiday Season Survey Reveals Physicians' Views of Faith, Prayer and Miracles A national survey of 1,100 physicians, conducted by HCD Research and the Louis Finkelstein Institute for Religious and Social Studies of The Jewish Theological Seminary in New York City over the past weekend, found that 74% of doctors believe that miracles have occurred in the past and 73% believe that can occur today. I'm in pretty good company so far...Unless you say the Miracles are natural..Wouldn't put it past you. LOL Miracles happen every day. My niece was born early, and less than a pound and a half. She was Downs Syndrome and her heart was malformed. The Drs. gave her a few days at the most. Maybe just hours. We prepared to grieve. My mother, a Southern Baptist Sunday School teacher for 50 years, PRAYED. She would never make it a week...She would never make it a month....She would never make it a year.........Certainly, she would never make it to five..... My daughter just turned eleven, and her cousin Arianna is now ten. She was never supposed to live ten days. But she did. This miracle is just one of the reasons that doctors believe in the Supernatural. I'm with them.

Slim:
I could not agree with you more. My baby brother also has Downs and has suffered from all sorts of problems thoughout his life, heart issues, cancer, things that would make most us us cry. He is one of the happiest people I know. They said he would not last long when he was born, in 2 weeks he will have his 40th birthday. I was present when both my children were born. Try to tell a parent that birth is not a miracle. Tony |

I believe in Miracles. I have no doubt that cetain miracles do exsist. However just because one miracle exsists that does not mean that everything under the term "supernatural" exsists. Do I believe that miracles happen in hospitals everyday. I most certainly do believe that. I have seen it first hand more than once! Do I believe that RV is real? I don't. Why? Because so far nobody has done it.
That is the difference Slim. Miracles happen and we have tons of facts just like the one you provided to support it. Where are the facts that support RV? Again I think that is what Randi is trying to find. |

Hey, I got a 5 month old baby girl - her smile can be explained in terms of science, biology, behavioural cues etc... but in the end, the personal experience is magical... and all the scientific explanations (which I can accept anyway) still doesn't quite capture the emotional evokation of the smile...
Just like "chemistry" between people... all of it can be given rational explanations but kind of defeats part of the joy of life (unless explaining everything in a sceintific way brings you greater joy than a baby's smile or chemistry with a sig other....) Chemical magic

My Brother was also Downs. The crazy thing is he was healthy and expected to live a long life (for downs that is). He passed away at the age of 6. Crazy things happen.
Tony that is awsome that your brother has made it to 40. Give him a BIG OLD happy B-Day from me!!! |

Think dude! If a Miracle is a Supernatural occurance then you believe in the Supernatural! That is the question here. I've never said a word about RV'ing here. It's not really the subject. Entity said that he didn't know if there were Supernatural events. I DO! Sorry to hear about your brother.

That is what I am getting at. I believe in some supernatural events. I am using RV as an example. To me RV would fall under the Supernatural. You can use the example of x-ray vision, etc etc etc if you want. Just because miracles, or supernatural events take place in hospitals. That does not make things like RV and X-ray eyes etc etc etc true.
I think you and Entity are the two extrems. At least that is my impression. Entity does not bleive in any supernatural events. You bleive in all of them. I am somewhere in the middle. I just happen to think I am the right one here. |

Many people claim that certain things are supernatural. I am not nieve enough to believe them all.

I have experience some of them, so I try to keep an open mind.
Science can explain the biology of birth, but it cannot explain life. Science can say how the brain works (parts of it any way) but not how the mind creates. But this has not to do with Randi. So we should get back on topic. See Chichi, many of us do have common ground. Tony |

Tony I think we have a lot more common ground than we think. Sometimes I think it is hard to convey that over the internet.
Slim I am happy to see that you don't believe in all "supernatural events". You still believe in some that I don't and that is fine. To each there own. Maybe Randi is just searching for truth. Maybe for him it is not about the money he just wants to see if these things are indeed true. Like Houdini. Hey if I could have a lot of big wigs back me in my quest for the truth about RV it would probably make it easier. |

Randi's challenge is for people who have abilities beyond the normal. To me, PRAYER, is one of those abilities. However, it would be very hard to put my mother in "Test" conditions of any kind. That's why Randi's challenge is rigged.

Okay I can see your point. It would be hard to show that your mothers prayer was or was not the reason for a miracle. No way to prove that. No test can do it.
Randi can make a test to prove if x-ray vision or RV is real. So why knock him for trying? Yes somethings that are "supernatural" can't be tested. A lot of them can be tested, so why not test them? His test does not appear to be rigged for those types of supernatural events. |

I've seen the future. Yes I have. And maybe you have too. It's called Paramnesia, and most people have experienced it. De'Ja'Vu' or something like that in French.
Science still can't explain it! But they try.
