Hi! I have recently gotten into illusions and I was wondering if someone could give me a review of Andrew Mayne's book Illusionbook. I have searched the forums and found nothing. Thanks.

Illusionbook is not one of the best books to start with...
It basically just has ideas for new versions of illusions. The drawings are not that good and you will not learn much from it.. Andrew Maynes latest book Illusiontech 1 is a much better buy. Probably the best book at this moment to get into illusions is 7 basic secrets of illusion design. |

I haven't seen the 7 Basics Secrets book yet, but I can say that you can't go wrong with Osborne's Illusion Systems #1. Not only does it have some great plans, it covers a lot of the basics you will need to know about putting things together.
Thanks, Richard |

Just wondering. In this book are there any good vanishes or appearences? Thanks for taking the time.

Hi!
Mayne's books are good. His Illusionbook is mostly ideas. The book has illusion plans that are fairly easy to make but not that expensive. I recommend every book from Jim Steinmeyer (specially Device and Illusion). Also, all the Paul Osborne illusions books are really great. If you are looking for new + modern illusions, I recommend Tim Clothier's Advanced illusion Projects Book. Regards from Germany, Chris |

I would recommend getting the illusion works tapes vol. 1 thru 4 by Rand Woodbury for an explanation of this.
