Does anyone know off hand who the magician was at the magic castle that was aired on American Idol?

I like his coin production- Anyone have or know whose move that is?

The magician's name is David Minkin. The clip was quick so I did not catch which hand the production was from. His right hand looked to be held in JW Grip position.

Yeah, seeing those clips was an unexpected treat. And that coin production looked angley but sweet.

It definitely started in the jw grip. It looked similar to the position in Cultural Exchange when Appollo Robbins holds the coin with a "C" grip and vanishes. In this case, using the same motions, it looks like his left hand was able to snag the coin making a snap production.

I guess the group of people that made it the the 2nd round in Hollywood they probably give tours and site seeing excursions to. One of the stops was the Magic Castle, a bus full of contestants went there.

I've always wanted to go to the Castle. It was featured on a few episodes of "The Magician" with Bill Bixby back in the early 70's. (Ahem, not that I am that old or anything....hehe....)

My boss mentioned this at work first thing in the morning. He tought Lattimer quickly stole the ball off the bottom cup and somehow dropped a bill into the top cup. Ah the explanations muggles come up with. Smile

That's right, he made no mention of the coin guy. It must have been the bring yellow ball and the sudden action that caught his attention.

Got any bright yellow coins?

In what book or other source can the JW Grip be found?

Larrylegal,

Cultural Xchange with Shoot Ogawa and Apollo Robbins is a really good source for this move and ways to use it.

I read that Simon from Idol will be producing a show that mimics the Idol format but will deal with magicians and other Vegas type entertainers. Anyone else hear about this?

The coin production was just a straight Wilson Palm production, and it was Jason Latimer with the great cups. It was a nice surprise to see.
