For online, I've used Magic Depot, and have had great experiences.

Elmwood Magic has been the best magic site for me for years. Paul Richards does an excellent job of getting the magic to you!!! Great website, great prices, great service. You will surely be pleased.

I try to shop mostly at the bricks and mortar shops in my region, including Magic Sojourn in Bristol, PA and Mingus Magic in Reading, PA (both highly recommended). With that said, I've used 3 online merchants (not including many sellers on eBay):
PenguinMagic Trickshop Magic Depot 1. Trickshop mostly for on-line downloads -- very happy with them 2. Magic Depot -- The BEST on-line experience for me. Owner and staff communicate VERY well, and out of stock items ship quickly. Dependable based on my multiple purchase experience. 3. PenguinMagic -- 3 days later, and I'm still "waiting" for my "Instant Download". No direct e-mail link (you have to copy e-mail addresses into your e-mil program to e-mail them), and no acknowledgment of my order. I could call, but then again, I could call my local store. I'm ascribing these problems to their web storefront software -- hope they get it fixed but it won't be with any profit from me.

Bricks and morter, lets keep them alive before online gobbles them up.
I go to Browsers Den, a fantastic little shop in Toronto. (I drive 1.5 hours to get there) I do NOT want to buy my next effect at Wal-mart!!!!
I am a Sankey addict....please, help me!
My name is Will, my company is Blink, an experience in transposition. |

When I buy online, it's 90% of the time at MJM and 10% of the time at penguin magic.
I live near Montreal Canada, so I go to a magic shop in Montreal called Spectram when I buy stuff from a "real" store. |

Hi,
Penguin Magic is a good one, actually I have no choice because in France, you must go to Paris to find an interesting and complete Magic shop. Emeline |

I have really only purchased magic from a few places although I am now open to the various avaliable options. I have purchased from Penguin Magic, Ellusionist, Ebay (good and bad transactions), and my local magic shop.

Living in Chicago, I'm fortunate to have Ash's magic shop to visit in person. The Ashes make visiting their shop an experience. Mr. Ash will really keep you entertained with the way he performs tricks, and Mrs. Ash has a knack for finding whatever it is you're looking for. Mr. Ash is one of those people who has the ability to fool you even when you know what gimmick he is using. On a recent visit, someone asked about the limitations of using TT's in close-up work, and Ash was ready on the spot to do some very convincing close-up work with TT's, even when you were looking for the TT. Going to Ash's really makes for a great afternoon out; it is not simply shopping.
I patronize the physical Ash's magic shop, though I've never bought from the online Ash's magic shop. The real Ash's seems to be a potpourri of wonder at often bargain prices, whereas the online store I suspect is handled by a third party. |

I have purchased from Ellusionist and Magic Depot.
I only know of one B&M shop in my area. Unfortunately, the owner is not interested in attending to beginners. |

Most of my stuff I buy from the Local shop what take 1 1/2 hour drive.
Sometimes I buy items from Ebay. Most good stuff and fast shipping. Till now 1 less : Hocus jokus Usa, they have a webshop on Ebay. Their excuses for not shipping my item, sickness, I can belive, but no more as that.... Because it seems others has got their items after me. Their feedback is 99,6 % positive. So I was suprised this will take so much time. Has anybody buy from them, and how did that go?? |
