In the winter, my hands tend to be very dry (of course) and coins (well, anything) slip out of grip quite eaisly. Then, when performing, I get a little nervous and struggle to get rid of the coin! I can do a coin roll while jogging down the road, but give me a wet hand, and that coin won't roll. So my question is, how to I get my dry practice hands to resemble my wet performing hands? Any ideas?

Ellusionist sells a product call Golden Touch. I have the same problem and this works great for me.

Well I'm also looking for some help on this topic but I really don't feel like buying something to help me. What I would do is wash my hands or just play with my coins for a couple of min. and that seems to work.

Welcome to the club. I have noticed as I get older it seems to be more of a problem. Natural skin oils seem to diminish with age. Be careful what you use, I had a reaction to over the counter lotion that made matters much worse. Play it safe, try it on one hand for a week first.

Can you remember when your hands start to get really wet as you perform for an audience. Can you imagine them there now if you close your eyes and rehearse your act?
Can you notice what is different when you are practicing and rehearsing? Then you can also put that there as you rehearse. Adding that inner trigger to perspire is much easier than repressing the trigger when you perform.
...to all the coins I've dropped here

I use Corn Huskers Lotion - gives me a tire tread grip.
Golden Touch is nice, but it tends to dry the hands, because of the alcohol content. |

Dry hands are my enemy a well.
I've just started using Corn Huskers. It has a sleight tack when it dries. I like it. |

From my personal experience I know that if you get some decent shampoo and wash your hands with it like panthene or dove, or some dishwashing soap, your hands will get really dry...
To make it even more challenging for you, try to get your hands cold by going out for a walk in the winter with no gloves on. Have fun! Edith |

And in case you want to have wet hands, how about taking a bath while practising or a shower?
Maybe even put some salad oil in your hands... Edith |

I was performing last month at a dinner party and the room temperature was rather cool. The heat was on, but my hands were like ice cubes. Of course, it's natural for extremeties to be colder than the rest of the body. I rubbed my hands together a couple of times between effects to warm them up. Later, I worried that people would think there had been some funny business going on while I was doing that. Is "cold hand syndrome" also a problem for many people?

I'm not entirely sure, but I think it may have been Pete Biro who turned me on to "sortquick" (the stuff cashiers use for counting bills... he may have used a different name, but similar product). I use it mostly for card work and it really does help me.

Thanks for the great suggestions. I'll be trying to get some corn huskers or sortquick! As implied above, dry hands are not only an enemy of coin work but card work too. I'm tired of licking my fingers!
