Hi Peter... I was wondering whether you might give some tips on misdirection and whether any particular forms of misdirection have worked best for you, such as perhaps handing something to a spectator and using that to direct attention away at the critical moment. And how important is misdirection in your routines?

Thank you again.

For me, the most important ingredients as to misdirect are body language and timing.

I ALWAYS make eye contact with my spectator(s) whenever I need misdirection. An example of body language: Look down on your pack of cards, a moment later look straight up again to your spectator -while you patter or ask them a question- and your SPECTATOR will make eye contact with YOU, which allows you to execute a get ready for a double lift, Top change etc. If your presentation is good, people will simply follow YOUR eyes.

Another point that I would like to mention is that you really have to BELIEVE in what you do. e.g. If you really believe that you're putting an object into your hand in order to have it disappear, then your audience will believe as well. If you do NOT believe or if you are unconfident, you will project it to your audience. BELIEVE in everything you do.

Some of my routines like "Transferred" and "3 Fry" need some "real world" msdirection as for sertain handlings, but in the most of my routines the misdirection is "build-in".

I hope this makes sense?
