Just bought the trick two days ago, got it today and I love it. What will they think of next. They weren't lying when they said it was the hottest trick of the decade. Trust me, I can prove it now. (Justin Wells)

It's a good one.
you can fool all of the people some of the time and some of the people all the time but never all of the people all the time.

Hello Justin,
Welcome aboard The Magic Café. Don't forget to check in and tell us about you at: http://www.themagiccafe.com/forums/viewf......mp;29851 Scotch and Soda is one I used for a season of trade shows for a book publisher who had special advertising coins to give the visitors to the booth. I would keep eight or more sets ready for use at a time. Then I would need to escape and reset. (No telling how many bang rings I have lost.) It was a wonderful way to magically get the coins into the customers' hands. It made them special. Enjoy your coin magic. Bob Sanders Magic By Sander |

Scotch & Soda is great. I have a barber half and irish penny set soming in the mail soon. There are so many different tricks and uses for it aside from the standard presentation. Good luck exploring your new coins!

I have to agree with every one so far S&S is great. After you play with it for a while, you might want to look into the Gimmick free versions. I know of two off the top of my head, Bill Palmer has a great Gaffless verison and so does Peter Marucci.

Welcome to the Café Justin. You will get a lot of mileage out of S&S. Once you get started into coin effects, you may want to look into some of Schoolcraft's or Lazzen's coins down the road. Good luck.

If you haven't already checked it out, the Ken Simmon's trilogy of books for the Scotch and Soda set has some really great ideas for this set of coins. If you can't find them me know as I have finished with mine and would be willing to part with them for dirt cheap. Let me know...

Hi friends,
I also love S&S. Here is one of my routines with the S&S coins: http://www.infinite-image.net/gone/Houdini.wmv I hope you like it, Greg Rostami |

Greg - Your routine's very clever--in fact I recently posted a link to it in this thread.
All - Here's another idea that I really like. I'm not sure who originated it and lots of magicians I know have never heard of it: 1. Use some w-x to secretly stick a 20 Centavo coin to the bottom of a THIN metal ashtray (the kind they used to have in McDonald's eons ago) before you begin your performance. 2. Introduce the ashtray and place it on top of a clear drinking glass, mouth side up. 3. Introduce a Scotch and Soda coin set and place (nest) the two coins inside of a piece of flash paper which you crumple up around the coins. 4. Place the crumpled bundle in the middle of the ashtray. 5. Light the flash paper. The flash paper will ignite and disappear, revealing only the half dollar in the ashtray, and believe it or not, the heat from the flash paper itself will simultaneously soften the w-x on the bottom of the ashtray enough so the 20 Centavo falls into the glass. It's a hands-off penetration of a coin that's unbelievably visible and magical! Larry |

I have 2 sets. It was one of the first tricks I purchased many, many years ago when I first started into magic.

Is a non gimmicked s&s version as same magical as a gaffed s&s version? if yes, where can I learn it from?

Great idea, Larry! Hey Greg... thanks for sharing! For whatever reason I shelved my Scotch and Soda some years ago. This post, and your ideas are reason enough to dust it off and bring it back to life. It really is a great piece of magic. Thanks for the nudge.

Greg your routine was very well constructed. There was a beginning, middle and end and everything was clear and to the point awsome job.
