He looks pretty awkward with the watch steel...personally I get them to lay their hands on the table and then ask them if they have any marks on their hands/ scars etc. to see what watch strap they have...
I proceed with them squeezing a paper ball and holding a piece of paper with questions about the 'step-by-step vanishing of the ball in their hand.'All the time going through the questions with them... Here's how I do the rest (mostly thanks to derren): Pickpocketting Watches: (‘any marks on your hands?’) object and questions in other hand, person made to stand up, brought over, squeeze other hand tight… Wallet in coat: right hand points to object in the room (‘that’s where the ball will appear’), left hand dips... Wallet in outside pocket: (‘you don’t have any other bits of paper on you do you?’)open jacket to cover your checking of outside pockets on both sides... Tie: Right Hand rests on shoulder with thumb under collar, Left hand’s fingers grip middle of tie, Right hand’s fingers pulling tie in sections every time you talk, Right Hand hand pats their shoulder ('thats ok if it didn't go we can try another way')…covering slide off... Wallet in back pocket:(‘how far did you get? Oh sorry can you pick that up, I have a bad back’) Go into paper balls over the head routine. http://www.channel4.com/entertainment/tv......l/video/ |

But don't forget that Even I have tried this on a number of people and it still doesn't work...well, when you think about it, I haven't done anything different to what derren brown does, so whats the problem?
I believe that the problem is that you either know the guy ure doing it on, and/ or you're in familiar and relaxed (quiet) surroundings. It is these things that create awareness of the spectator. The more disorientated he is, the better too. Something like this has to be done on suggestable people (?) in unfamiliar circumstances. I think. |

Can I...at the moment I haven't dipped anybody! Im guessing that it is due to the above reasons. Otherwise why the hell can't I?! Hopefully, the answer is pickpocketting is bloody difficult and involves a bit of luck!

Derren's Book, Absolute Magic has a nice section on pickpockting. To pull this stuff off you have to take on a very touchy-feely persona.

Agree with his Book, Absolute Magic......if people don't know that you can do Pickpocket...you can sell the effect as Teleportation of Objects....of course with some Magica juju add to your patter....
