I would like to vanish a spectator, currently it is going to be a child - but that could change in the future.
I am not going to be able to prep the spectator so the method will have to reflect this. It will be performed on stages, high school type stages (curtains etc...) I do have a lot of control over the lighting. Any ideas.......? scott |

Select a small child from the audience. Tell him to get into a sword basket and then position his body possibly against his free will. Then stick all the swords into the basket to prove the child has actually vanished!
Would you believe it if I told you a magician actually did this? As sick as it sounds, it is true, but I wont mention names.... DJ |

You should look into Paul Harris' idea about making a spectator vanish. Granted, it's not exactly what you have in mind, but it's a fantastic idea. One that I'll be implementing myself.
Word is that a certain Jersey magician will be doing this routine as well.
It's all in the reflexes.

I've used a flash appearance backwards with great success. The audience member was blindfolded and asked to stand in one place and never move. Since they cannot see anything, they feel no reason to move.

What about Abbott's "Boy to Rabbit" prop? I know little about this, but it is outlined in one of Ginn's book ("Children Laugh Louder"or "Kidbiz")
If anyone ever used this, I'd like to hear your comments, as it seems to be an easy-build prop. |

Dear DJ,
Ryan Joyce does this with a spectator. He uses a crystal clear chair and he spins in around. He then gets a member of the audiance to sit on the chai. He puts a cloth over them and when whisked away the spectator is gone. Maybe ask him.. |
