Hello,
I'm French, and I'm a new member of the forum. Question about the Tip-over trunk : I use it in my show (with a deceptive base to have a prodution in bonus or to have more space and better cover) to make apparear two girls. It works great, because it is a surprise. But for a vanish? I know I can use it for a Vanish, but is it really deceptive in this way? I want to use cover panel, to be angle-proof. Is the audience suspicious about a base or about the system? Give me your experience if you tried. |

I believe there are much better illusions to vanish an assistant. Since you can get a production from your tip over and an extra kicker for the end, I believe this illusion did its job to the max.

Yes, I'm agree with you. It works for a vanish but there are much better illusions for that.
Maybe a Cremation (Burning alive)? I'm looking for a quick and/or flash vanish, after another illusion. Not the asrah and not a black art effect (I still use it in my show), but something else. Do you have an idea? I'm looking for a cheap effect, or easy to build. |

Salut Stephane,
Mes commentaires, I have seen the tip over used as a vanish with a quick appear of the girl (double) in another location (from the original "ShaZzam!" show). The Tip-Over is able to be performed quickly and cleanly. It can be combined with a sack escape as in the "Glass Lined Box". Bag pulled through the top of box, and then tipped over to show the girl has actually gone! Blair Marshall - Magicien "ShaZzam!"

Thanks for your answer.
Ok, The Tip Over is a good effect when the person(s) vanished and reappears in the same time in another location, otherwise it cant't be a good climax . For the structure of my show, I need something very clean and flash (a 'closer'). A effect which is similar to the Crystal Casket (or the Fire Cage) but for a vanish.. Do you know an effect like the Burning Alive (cremation) : 4 panels of the box are falling( and she disappears), but with a smaller props ? |

The Shower Illusion Vanish, if it fits in with your theme, but even if the full Shower theme can't be used, the principle itself is very deceptive if you have full control of the stage lights. (PVC Pipe Illusions- Book 2)
The Vampire Cape Illusion is about the quickest, easiest, and least expensive. (PVC Pipe Illusions Book 2) Also, the Fade Out part of Fade-In; Fade Out can be used separately to good effect. (The Wizards' Journal #3) The vanish used in The Fabled Cloak of Invisibility can be spectacular if you have absolute control of all lights in the theater. (The Wizards' Journal #6)

I have make a search about the books PVC PIPE ILLUSIONS : Written by Jim Gerrich. A lot of effects, very cheap to build. Do you find the books interesting? What is your opinion about them ? I have seen a description of Utility cabinet illusion. Is it a version of the Modern Cabinet?
