Used correctly, TTs are great! Used poorly and they are not so great. Unfortunately most have expected the tip to do all the work and they do not. It is up to the performer to learn to use the gimmick correctly. But yes, TTs are one of the best items in magic! Used correctly they can create miracles before your eyes.

I agree, definitely a 10. I do a color changing silk during one of my routines in which I use a TT. I had a guy come up to me after my show and say, "When you started putting the handkerchief in your hand, I thought it was going to vanish in to a TT, but how in the **** did you get it to change to a white handkerchief, and then ditch the TT, because I was looking for it on both hands..." When used correctly, it can be one of the most powerful devices in magic.
There are many different ways to cut an apple.

TTs are awesome. Although the first time I vanished a silk for a guy he said "you have a TT right?" I was very disappointed because I thought I had done it wrong. It turns out that he knew of TTs before that and then complimented me because he said he never actually saw it. Since then no one I've done this for has had any clue. I did it for my brother and he said" is that like Real magic or something?" He wanted me to keep doing it until he figured it out. I stopped after about the fifth time and he still didn't know how it was done.

That is probably the best gimmick in magic. You can do so much things with it. Much more than only make an hankerchief vanish or change color (This is what everybody knows, but there is more). You can vanish, switch,produce,transform....,well you can do magic! VCM |

It has to be 10. Possibly one of the most widely used props around. I wonder where it originated? Any ideas?

A 10 from me as well. It is a utility that , because it has been around so long is vastly undervalued. I haven't been caught out by anyone in my circle of friends with this ever, so I can''t figure out why a lot of magicians say has been exposed to the general public. Its tremendous for tricks like Bill Switch.
I have a wide variety of these for differetn types of effects..I suppose you could say I am all thumbs.!

Did somebody say tt? One of the best magical items ever created, enough said. What I would like to know is who created it,and how it evolved, if anybody can give me some answers and bibliography, I'd greatly appreciate it.

I believe it was developed by William "Professor Herwin" Humpage from Bristol (1861-1946) in the 1880s in order to carry out Ching Ling Foo's torn and restored paper strip mystery . Gary Darwin's TT miracles may be a good place to start
