I loved this series when it was on HBO. It is a pity
more episodes were not made. Jim Henson was a true genius. The series is available on DVD: http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0002J4......mp;n=130 The classic stories that were used in the stories are collected here: http://www.angelfire.com/me3/muppets/Storyteller.html If there is no inspiration to be found here, then I don't know where.... Yep, I have both the series Storyteller and Greek myths. Truly inspirational.
But you also try to find Mirrormask by Dave Mc Kean, Neil Gaiman and the Henson studios. A true wonder. http://www.sonypictures.com/homevideo/mirrormask/ If you live in Brussels, you can find the series at Mélopée, close to the Bourse. |

Well, I lived in Germany for a couple of years, so I guess that makes me... well, still entirely non-Belgian. But now the thread contains three from Belgium and two from Oregon, curiously enough. Maybe there's a ley line between here and there.
Anyway, to be on-topic, I guess I missed out on the Storyteller shows when they were on the air (we never had HBO when I was younger). Looks like Netflix has Mirrormask and at least some Storyteller stuff, however, so I'll have to give 'em a look. As an aside, I think the book "Last Call" by Tim Powers has probably proven the most formative influence on my sense of bizarre magic (and has driven my decision to specialize in Tarot-related effects), though his "On Stranger Tides" runs a close second (great voodoo stuff there). -- Jake

That's funny, I'm just reading Last Call once again. I really like Tim Powers novels.
