Just an FYI... If you want mini baseballs 1 1/4", go to Wal-Mart and look near the ceiling fans. They have fan chain pulls with mini baseballs on them. They are attached to the chain with a tiny eyescrew, easily removed. It leaves a very tiny hole in the ball (barely noticable), but the balls are actually pretty nice.

There are also some at the Home Depot that are a bit larger.

Good one, Michael. Are they squishy at all or hard plastic?

A vote for the Sherwood set. I looked for a long while to find a set of balls that met my needs, plus would be silent when dropped into a cup. None come close to the Sherwoods.
My ex-cat was named "Muffin". "Vomit" would be a better name for her. AKA "The Evil Ball of Fur".

Michael tipped me off on this one many moons ago.
The fan chain balls are rather hard inside, like the cores might be wood. They are covered with a thick, slightly squishy vinyl, though. That makes them heavy enough so they won't blow around if it's breezy outdoors, and soft enough so they won't make clanking noises in the cups. I have sets in a couple slightly varying sizes. They all work great for the Gazzos and Animals. And the price is good, too. By buying them at the home improvement store they only cost $10 or $12 for a set of four. Greg |

Nice picture. is it just me or do they look a lot bigger when you put one on top of a cup? that one on top of the cup looks bigger than the other two.

Fortunately, I'm blessed with the keen, trained eye of a seasoned professional, and cannot be so easily fooled.
Obviously, the middle cup is much smaller than the other two. Regards, -jjg |

However it works, it is one heck of an OI.
Perhaps this should be posted in "SEEING IS BELIEVING." Might I also suggest that since this is an open forum that we not discuss the "workings" of this illusion? Peace, Parson

I asked the ball and it did a really good impression of Norma Desmond saying, "I *am* big. It's the *cups* that got small."
jjg's keen, trained eye does seem to have a bead on that "not shown actual size" thing. (...and FYI, Parson... nobody said nuthin' 'bout those gears and trapdoor buttons. We're cool.) ~michael

I have ordered from Francois (actually Pascaline makes them) and they are absolutely superb balls. Francois is a member of the Café as well. Look him up.

Those look very nice, and the price is reasonable, considering that they are handmade.
