I don't have time to go into detail but it is a GREAT book...It is of the caliber of Strong Magic by Ortiz and Maximum Entertainment by Ken Weber...I love all 3 of these!

I agree... Jamy is one of the under-rated magic thinkers of our time. His passion for magic and his pursuit for art and meaning through the performance of magic is tough to match. I'd say pick this book up.

Brilliant book!.He also tells you some good books to get and why some tricks are good or why some are bad.

It is truly a great book, though he uses HUGE margins on all 4 sides.

Whether you think you can, or think you can't, you're probably right.

HUGE margin? I guess that explains why essays can make up close to 300 pages of material Smile

It's a good book. He offers a lot of invaluable insight on performing. Definitely worth reading. It's a quick read as well.

It is surprisingly decent book from such an inept performer. At least he doesn't tip his "pass" in it.

I've got to say that I think the book overrated !
Parts are alright, others, like whether it's wrong to copy videos, or his views on exposure, are overwriten and a bit pointless.
Its hard to pin his point-of-view down sometimes. Writing a page where a line will do.

There are enough good chapters to make it worthwhile, and it does make you think, sometimes !

I can not recommend this book for a variety of reasons.

One, it seems to be an endless diatribe of rants. He tends to be insulting and abusive to everyone he considers not at his level. I am not saying he does not make some good points and I even agree at times with some of his frustrations of the magic inept. However, I do not believe you must be cruel to make those points.

Two, he contradicts himself in his own book. As you read the chapters you begin to see he alters his views to fit his rants. It is not a positive or motivational book.

I would suggest anything written by Eugene Burger a much superior book that covers much of the same material in a positive helpful way (and sometimes biting) that Swiss feels must done in a mean spirited way.

You also can’t help but notice that Swiss thinks quite highly of himself and very little of just about everyone else.
