Hello everyone,

A preacher at church has asked if there would be a suitable trick for 'nothing is as it seems' for a family service at Church soon. The passage it's based on is where Jesus turns over the tables in the temple. There must be loads of stuff, I've got a few ideas but I was wondering what you could come up with.

Any help is appreciated.

Thankyou

A trick like "What's Next" by Tenyo is effective for a theme like this.

If you want something quick but memorable, I often open with Andrew Mayne's bowling ball from paper bag production. It's on his Shock F/X DVD. Basically, you have a brown grocery bag sitting up on stage in full view. You look in, pick up the bag (in such a way that it appears there is nothing in it), turn the bag upside down and look in it (again 'proving' that the bag is 'empty'). You then tip the bag completely upside down and a real bowling ball drops out with a resounding THUD! I've used it in a 'more than meets the eye' theme, but I'm sure it would fit a 'nothing is as it seems' theme as well, since it really does appear to be nothing more than an empty paper bag.

Use Boomerang Lies by Dock Haley Gospel Magic. It is an optical illusion that would work very well in what you are doing.

Corinda's "powers of darkness", or "paper balls over head"
