There were quite a few that Greg and Margarette mention that made me jump when I was a kid.
As an adult.. "The Excorcist" and "Texas Chainsaw Massacre" were more emotionally disturbing than scary. "The Thing" (newer one) had it's moments as did "Halloween". Nowadays it seems to be all about gore. |

The Exorcist
Suspiria Seven Silence Of The Lamb's Psycho Alien
You might say reality is the result of complex negotiations between the observer and the observed. But that is simply a point of view.
Many Thanks Garrad |

Exorcist - I saw this alone in the house with no lights on except the TV. I was so scared I used to stare at my little sister sleeping(shared room) until I passed out from exhaustion.
The Gate - A movie with creepy little goons coming out of a hole that freaked me out. The Real Ghostbusters (Animated) - At 4 o'clock in the afternoon with my friends playing stickball outside and my sister eating ice cream in the corner, I watched the "Boogie Man cometh" episode and proceeded to go into conniptions. Big head, coattails, cuffs... come to think of it, he looked like a Magician. No wonder...
One time, when I was young, I botched a sleight so bad, Vernon, Marlo & Miller rolled over in their graves. But I didn't see Elmsley, probably because he was behind the others.

Yeah, the ring was good - but only the original version. After watching that, the Hollywood version was a big disappointment.

Scary films that got me the first time, lets see:
Aliens Poltergiest War Of The Worlds (Spielberg, 2005) Signs (Not scary, just freaky) Twister (not scary, just a thriller) Jurassic Park 3 (not scary, just the raptor breaking out of the glass test tube, surpised me) to tell you the truth, I really don't get scared that much, if I do get scared from watching a film, its mostly because the director isn't giving enough clues to what is going on (war of the worlds & Poltergiest) or the director decided to show you a thriller that can happen to you in real life (twister) Or the director decides to make something pop out of something (aliens & the scene in JP3 when they are in the raptor room)

"Night of the Living Dead"
The original "Dawn of the Dead" (1978) And then, one movie I stayed up late to watch alone that really got to me.... "Pit and the Pendulum" (1961) with Vincent Price. If you watch it, don't forget to stay with it until the *very* end. Mark
My ex-cat was named "Muffin". "Vomit" would be a better name for her. AKA "The Evil Ball of Fur".

That old horror movie from the late 1970s starring Karen Black and Bette Davis called "Burnt Offerings" is creepy. Family moves into a large house for the summer as caretakers, but the house has a "life" of it's own. And who can forget the old, invalid lady (Mrs. Allerdyce) who lives in the attic and which Karen Black has to care for? And what about that reappearing black 1940s-style hearse with the scary driver who has that sinister grin? Definitely a good movie! Check it out!

I love sharks, actually had the chance to swim with some. JAWS is a great film but it puts a bad reputation on sharks, not all sharks are man eaters, you are more likely to be bitten, attacked and killed by a New Yorker then you are to a Great White Shark. mostly because Great Whites are rare and usually don't eat when not hungry.

The thing about the Alien films is, once you seen the first one, every movie after that doesn't surprise you since you know a lot about the creatures. Alien is getting pretty old, I looked at rottentomatoes.com and saw that AVP II is suppose to be released in the future (Aliens VS. Predators II)
(I guess this time aliens will be teamed with humans, since it was predators and humans VS. Aliens in the original Alien VS. Predators, who knows?)

Any Pauly Shore film - he gives me the creeps.
