The best reaction I get to a packet trick is for Virginia City Shuffle. Easy to do, a real fooler and perfectly clean.

Been having a packet trick resurgence myself. I'll go for a period of time not caring much for them and then fall in love with them again for no apparent reason.
Been doing Twisted Sisters quite a bit and follow that with Sander's Ace, except I use Queens for the climax cuz it flows with the sisters better and the change looks more shocking IMO. Plus I can use "almost" the same cards as sisters. I also like using the single odd backed joker too. Jon Allen's Double Backed has always been a fav, except I use slightly different cards and have a "How to win at Blackjack" story line. Just ordered Capitulating Queens by Gary Plants and Entourage by Gordon Bean after seeing recommendations for them here on the Café. Looking forward to having something new to play with. |

All great packet effects, and I have been doing Double Back for many years, just a great and now classic effect by Jon.
A good friend here on the Café from Canada put me on to "Capitulating Queens" a while back now and I've been doing it ever since. And I can tell'ya that it's also a wonderful packet trick to conveniently pull out and do for folks. It always plays well and is quite stunning. You'll enjoy it for sure, actually, forever probably.

Thanks Mb217, for the excellent suggestion. I got Capitulating Queens yesterday and absolutely love it. This is a fantastic effect and one I'll be doing for years.

Stand Up Monte by Garrett Thomas ranks very high. Definitely one of the best ever.

Stand Up Monte, has it all.
Four Card Trick (Greg Wilson Double Take DVD, I believe) is an impromptu winner |

I still enjoy performing corner of picadilly, bullet party and reswindled. I like them as they all have multi layers of deception and the cards can be pretty much left with them to grab. Does anyone still perform Mega wave in their act?

I pair that with "Monte Payoff" (Micheal Eaton's "Drop In Project" DVD)and somtimes Big Deal (Joshua Jay) and a few others for a nice gambling routine. I just took a look at the "Four Card Trick" by Wilson --->http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qy_TV7QudC0 and it looks promising. |

This is a great thread!
I have used many packet tricks, and I would say that one of my favorites is one that sells for around $5. I recently saw for sale at Penguin for $0.99. It's called "Four Card Monte" and it is made by Casino Magic. I believe it was created in 1993, but mine doesn't say who created it. http://www.penguinmagic.com/p/1125 Things I like about it: 1. It uses four regular cards and one db. Once you learn the effect, you can easily replace the cards you need. 2. While it is a monte, it can be presented in a light-hearted, humorous way, instead of in the typical monte "challenge" way. 3. You can go into it from a regular deck with the one gimmicked card, or from your pocket. 4. It ends clean. 5. It is easy to reset. 6. And, most importantly, it is entertaining and has a strong magic punch. KJ |

At the moment my fave is Duplicity by John Bannon because I only discovered it fairly recently but now could not live without it.

Richard Sanders' effect with 4 jokers and 4 stickmen appearing one by one, then all four appearing on one examinable joker.
Stand up monte by Garret Thomas also is great. |
