As a thinking exercise :
A classical question : you have to perform close-up or walkaround. No cards allowed. WHat do you do ? (hereby I cleverly eliminated several Osterlind products (which I do like, btw) that would fit the bill). I currently have two effects that fit my own set criteria... a booktest and spoonbending. A center tear or such could be done, but I'm not sure... I'm not Osterlind, so I don't know if I could pull it off... Any ideas ? |

I saw Luke Jermay perform his pulse stop in a bar once for about 10 minutes he held his audience captivated.

If you are allowing for center tears, I am going to put a plug for a peek, so an outlaw wallet, would be nice to have

I for one won't be carrying books around for a book test while I hop or stroll. Billets and such and the CT will suffice. You can do a lot with that already if you're really caught on the spot.

I would do some PK effects with loops that would go hand-in-hand with silverware bending. I would do some billet work for a mini Q&A, drawing duplication, or just a simple word/name/date/number etc. divination. While I am working with billets, I would also be prepared for any NW effects. There's plenty more that I could do, but this is just a short-list.

I rarely use cards anyway, so what I might do is what I'd do anyway:
Psychological forces: 37, 68, lion, rose, chair, so on from Banachek Ring of Truth: From Banachek or Patrick Redford's Prevaricator Osterlind's Inside the Fold and Change of Mind. Max Maven equivoque effect (there are many) Doug Dyments Magic Square or Sign Language Acidus Plus from Longman and Mann by way of Osterlind Your coin-bending, your key-bending, your cutlery bending Well, in fact some performers never use cards and still never seem to run out of entertaining alternatives. Of course, many of the effects I mention require some small proping. But the question suggests that you're working, so I assume some helpful materials stashed about the person. |
