It's freakin awsome. some of the best ideas on bizarre magic I've read. the phantom violinist has wonderful story involved in it, and the latex hounds of hell is classic.

Glad to see that millusions is still posting in the Café.
Now may I ask when would I be getting my full refund for the nash reloaded thing? I emailed you numerous times but seldom get replies. Even if replies, its on further delays.

I clicked on Dark Waltz thinking someone had come up with a "dark" bizzare version of Anniversary Waltz..the card trick...hmmm maybe using Dark Card by Boucher with both signed cards melting into on with a weird design on the back of the card...

Michael is a good friend of mine and I can personally say the Dark Waltz reflects both his light and creative nature as well as utter dark genius.
Michael also makes many of his own Bizarre props with the utmost skill and craftmanship, including a working grimoire packed full of effects for use in a seance/evocation atmosphere ( a show in itself), a Zodiac chart (antiqued) especially for use in conjunction with Christian Chelman's pet effect, an amazing Spirit Glass/Bell and more. My first experience of 'REAL MAGIC' was with and through Michael. He bent spoons and forks with ease, psychically effected objects in my possession and caused my entire arm to become completely numb and heavier than a stack of bricks. To see the man perform is a real treat and those who pick up the Dark Waltz will not be displeased.

Hello Nicholas,
While not necessarily necessary, most of the routines in The Dark Waltz conjured up a seance room type environment for me, where you could have control of most factors. A sort of mini-theatre or ritual chamber, if you will. Although, I suppose, the effects could be done close-up or what-not, this image of a ritual chamber is what came to mind for me when reading through The Dark Waltz. The ritual chamber seems to resonate with the magic inside this book. I don't know if that really answers your question, but I wanted to share the impression I was left with after reading the book. Sincerely, Dale A. Hildebrandt |

Dear Nicholas,
I have performed this material mostly for small audiences in a seance room type setting. The best size seems to be 10-20 participants. I guess you might consider it parlor material in that regard. I have successfully adapted much of my show for stage, and I have used some of the material on the radio as well. When I created the show, I attempted to make it as adaptable and modular as possible. Time has proven that attempt successful. I think you will find much of the material quite flexible with occasional modifications to presentation. Most often, I have been hired to perform outside of my (home) theater. I wanted to be able to take my audience to another world without having to demand much of the host in terms of environment. I really like the description of environment as given by Dale A. Hildebrandt. The idea of a ritual chamber resonates well with the idea of ritual being the re-enactment of a myth (as per Joseph Campbell and discussed in my book). In short, I guess that while the material is most at home in a seance room/parlor environment, I believe that you can apply it in whatever way suites you best. I look forward to hearing your feedback.
Beware of this and that.

I JUST HAVE TO SAY this book is PHENOMENAL!!!
Fraughton appears all too briefly in our collective compilation, Midnight at the Dark Museum, and reading his stuff there reminded me to re-read this work--his style of writing is a gem.....he not only explains his original and powerful routines, he lectures in a highly educated style along the way--he really commands one to get to the root of each effect, urging the reader to see the true meaning, true aim of each effect, his or otherwise for this matter. reading his work seemed like we were brothers (in fact we are brothers from the Grand Lodge )....I look forward to the possiblity of working with him, perhaps, in the future... the photos are entertaining and the explanations on point. I don't even know if this tome is still avail! LOL....you better hope so good people... no doubt, something for everyone herein...his seance ideas will surely strengthen any seance experience... thanx bro fraughton for sharing ...........more to come, I pray... Baba |

I bought The Dark Waltz about a year ago from http://www.lybrary.com. It's terrific! I even left a review.
I use Latex Hounds from Hell after I do my Gacy clown nose effect. Also, the Lybrary site has some other good e-books - wink-wink. Mark |

Yes, indeed. In fact, just the other day I bought your book, Marqus -- Shuddershadow Mansion -- and have already found some delightful routines to add to the repertoire. I especially like the Stooge Spririts -- nyuk-nyuk-nyuk!

I'm so glad Baba and Mark brought this thread back to the top. Somehow,I missed the responses (by Michael and Dale) to my earlier query and have not had a chance to revisit this thread. I did, in fact, get the book and must add my vote with two thumbs up. I thoroughly enjoyed the effects and stories in The Dark Waltz, but I especially enjoyed Michael's kind of thinking.
