I have been a fan of Derren Brown for a while now. After watching one of his spacials called The Gathering, I was very impressed with an effect that was done. He asked a lady on the stage to think about a friends last name, she wrote it down and kept the paper, Derren never touched it but he was able to correctly name the surname of the person she was thinking about.

Could someone point me in the correct direction as to where this type of effect could be learned. DVDs or printed materials.

Yes he did, but he only got the pen back. Is there a product that does this? It certainly wasn't a super sharpie.

There was editing in the video it is easy to say p.e there is a frame where derren gets applauses, it stucks and than there is a close-up on him, it was edited.
Please look more into the mentalism area and you will find your answers very quickly this routine is from the basics of our art.

Let me say this: It is impossible for you to do exactly the same.
Your billet routine will never look as clear as you think you have seen it.

It is the effect that counts and not the technique.
