I saw a man who could make a very loud snap with his fingers - but not the standard way. He cupped his hands and it looked like the middle finger of the 'inside' hand was the one making the noise. A very fun effect, enough to churn the stomachs of the small. If anyone has an idea on how to do this, please post or PM me. Thanks a million!

I used to do this when I was still at school...

Kind of hard to describe in words. Hold out your left hand flat, palm upwards. Bring right hand middle finger. Place it, tip down, in the centre of the left palm. Now press quite hard with your right finger so that the first joint of that finger is bent backwards a bit.

Close your left hand round the right finger, which is still pressing into the middle of the palm. The trick is, from this position, to push down with the left hand fingers and then snap the right hand finger into the left palm. Experiment - you'll see, hopefully, what I mean.

Not sure this is particularly good for your joints!

Cheers

Thanks a million! I also can count on it not being the best exercise for my joints - but nailing your nose isn't much better! Ha!

It's easier to hold the left hand flat palm up fingers spread.

Right hand palm down encircles and grabs left center finger.

Now click your finger and thumb of right hand UNDER COVER of left hand (as if clicking fingers for a waiter)

It looks like you are cracking your finger but are really just clicking your finger and thumb.

It's also much nicer on your joints.

P.S. (do it to the spectators hand also )
always gets a laugh.

OK,
I'll chime in here! I do a bit, that...well,
"sends" shivers up the spine!

All I can describe is that it sounds like, very painful knuckle cracking.

What actually happens is that the tips of my right hand are rested in between the fingers of the left hand. As pressure is applied, my fingertips "pop" out and a very loud knuckle cracking sound ensues.

People's faces cringe, and this is only done when I do "Karate Coin".....for effect!

In the middle east, the method you described is the normal way to snap your fingers. No one does it the way we consider normal (with one hand, middle finger snapping down). I too used to crack my knuckles in class and then proceed with the loud crack. I can't tell you the number of times I got cringes.
