No the plastic ones are more of novelties instead of magic props. and if using on stage I guess it does matter at all.,. haha.,. but seriously, anywhere I can find jumbo coins chromed, doesn't matter with or without shell.,.

Diamond Jim Tyler used to make and carry superior 3-inch coins with shell. They were nickel-plated.
Unfortunately he is out of stock right now. But if you contacted him (s I did) maybe it would encourage him to get another run done. Check out his website at: http://www.diamond-jim.com/unique/

Thanks, Harry, I will just do that and hope he gets another run - then everyone gets a chance to get it.
BTW, how's the quality sold by him, Harry? |

Superior! I bought a set some years ago and it could not be beat. He starts with two coins. One is made into a shell and the other is cut down to fit then everything is plated.
Unfortunately, my set was "borrowed" (stolen) one night with the rest of my act. Several items that were lost have proven to be irreplaceable. Now I tend to buy three of any item that I am using regularly. Maybe if enough people ask Jim will do another run!

I agree with you, Harry, that it is good to have spares. I have similar incidents too and I cannot do anything. Like you, I am also getting three or four of each item too - just for performance availability.
I will also email Diamond Jim Tyler so that with more people showing interest in this item he will bring the item back again. |

I bopught mine from hocus pocus and was very happy... the jumbo coins were not the typical ones.. the one I recieved seemed like it was made that way and not a regular jumbo coin that was dipped in chrome.... the edges are milled to help with tenkais... As for the Shell, it was very well made and it was chromed out as well... Also the Shell that came with mine sticks to magnets which is a plus... the downside is the coin itself doesn't stick to magnets and when handling the shelled jumbo coin, it makes a lot of noise... I'm sure this is ok for stage.. just go to hocus pocus site and type jumbo coin on the search and you will find it...
