HI,
As I say not trying to convert anyone. Personaly I think it is a terrible thing to do to a kid and I would not do it, but we all draw are lines in different places. dressing a boy up as say a pirate or a magician is one thing but a rabbit, I think your refusal rate will soar on this one Billy phillip |

I'm curious to know how sanitary it is to put the same nose on countless kids. Magicians are often in such a hurry, doing multiple shows per day, that I wonder how many would actually take the time to clean the red nose before placing it on another child.
To me, something like this sounds like GERM CITY. Just something to think about. Gerry |

To me, the nose is more of a clown nose than a "bunny" nose. I would forego the nose altogether. How about substituting the cotton tail gag instead?

You can get additional noses, but I just found a great new product at the supermarket called Clorox Anywhere, it's a non-toxic spray, that kills 99.9% of bacteria. You just spray it on, with no rinsing. They say it's safe to use on pacifiers, cutting boards and pet bowls: without rinsing.
I thought of adding a tail, but you can't see it at the, pardon the pun, end. |

You have them turn around (revealing the tail to the audience) and then continue with the nose (if you use it), ears, and finally the "big finish."

I buy clown noses in bulk in poly-wrap bags for around $.25 per piece. I hand them out to kids an adults during different comedy routines. Simply let the kid keep the bunny ears and nose - problem solved...souvenir of the show. We'regenerally being paid well over $100-$200 per hour..surely one can afford to giveaway a $.25 nose and a $1.00 set of ears. All this hubbub over nothing.

Hi Guys,
I am not that familiar with this routine or blendo bags, so maybe you can answer a few question for me. Is the bag shown empty and the ears and then the nose made to appear in the bag or are they just there? How long or difficult is it to refold this into a bag? I often go from one show to the next and reset time is important (especially in the cold Montreal winter when you reset outside at -20 degrees). One last question. Skip where do you buy noses in bulk? Thanks for your help. |

The nose and ears are just in the bag, you don't show it empty at the beginning. It takes about 30-60 seconds to fold. You do need to lay it on a surface to fold.

The art on the silk isn't exactly "cute and cuddly. It's a big cartoony rabbit jumping out of a hat. It was done that way, so that it would appeal to boys or girls. You could even cue the boy to say "Eh...What's up doc?"

MikeDes, I'm out of town at the moment. As soon as I get home I'll shoot that bulk nose source to you. One of these days I'll update the data on his laptop!!!

In cocerns of puting a cottontail on the volunteer...I would seriously rethink that thought! In some cases some people may come out saying that you mishandeled their child or molested them. I just think it opens up some doors that don't need to stay open.
And in the concerns of humiliating experiences....how can this bag o bunny be any more embarrising than putting a diaper on a childs head to use as a wig??? Personally, I think that the diaper is more offensive and the bunny is a very cute bit to do that as Ken would say makes a photo op in the show. Its a smart idea just be careful of doing the tail bit at the.....end! Robert |

Thanks to all you pros for hashing this one out. I like the pictures on the link and just from reading the posts, I am confident in the quality. But, I think that my first reaction was the same as p.b.jones.
Where I perform, this one has the potential for disaster. I know that it can be avoided with carefull prep.--maybe, but I am telling you, from years of experience in working with the kids here in Japan, it would be a dangerous choice in a school show. At an adult private party (where I would like to use it and will probably get one when they're stocked up) I think this one would go over great with the adults. Deep down we're all the same, but my kids audience is different from many other cultures. |

I'm not sure I understand the controversy.
If I did this routine I would hand the child a wand and have him try to make a bunny appear in the bag. He makes the ears appear first. I would put them on me and then ask him if wants to try them on. A shy kid or a child that doesn't want to look silly will just say no, in which case they stay on my head (I may not even ask and keep them on my head if the child is particularly shy). We then make the nose appear and they go on the one wearing the ears and of course the silk would be held up to the one with the ears and nose. In the end I would ask for a big round of applause for my helper who made the "bunny" appear. The photo op is either the child dressed as a rabbit or the child holding up the wand and pointing it at the "rabbit" he made appear. |
