Remember that all of these things are tools for entertainment...in the hands of some they can be very entertaining and in others they could be weapons for embarrassment...a very quiet "Could you put these on for me?" a yes and off we go...a no and they go on me...It may be the case that folks who have trouble with this are picking the wrong type of volunteer or just don't have the stage presence to put their volunteers at ease...clearly, not everybody does and of course for those people then this perhaps isn't for them...pick the right volunteer, present it in the right way and you have a photo opportunity that will be worth a lot to any parent...now if I could just get my contact info on this thing then wow it would be great...I'm looking forward to receiving mine

Try taking a polaroid of the child as a bunny, and have a sticker with your contact info. You could even have a cardboard photo frame with your contact info.

I was thinking about my contact info on the magic hat...could this be personalized for individual performers?

To add my 2 cents in support of Big Bag O' Bunny I'd like to add that Children, and adults also, will accept being placed in a costume wearing situation when they do not feel threatened. It's up to the Magician to gain the trust of the child and to let the child know that they are part of the act and that they are contributing to the performance. I seldom have a resistant child, but when I do, I allow them to sit back down and I choose another helper. The age of the assistant is important and experience helps in choosing the perfect helper. Two tricks that I use that puts this to the test are " Nosey Volunteers" which places 4 adults in a comical situation wearing large plastic noses followed by the placing of large paper bags on their heads. The second is " Super Chicken" which involves placing a cape, chicken hat piece, and a zorro style black mask with a chicken nose, on the child. Every volunteer that I have used for both of these tricks, play along and often ham it up themselves. Perhaps for me, the secret is that my audience sees how wacky and funny that I can be and they fall in like mice to the pied piper. If you want a child or adult to place themself in a compromising situation, place yourself in that same scenario. If the crowd is applauding and laughing with you, then they also want some of that feedback also.
