I've been playing with the myserious kings a bit and have been getting some good reactions. Although you can never repeat the trick again or let anyone near the deck to see...

If we are talking "packet tricks", then my vote goes for Trilogy.
Unfortunately, you can't repeat the trick either and you can't let people see the deck as well. My favorite gimmicked deck, where the gimmick is invisible, is my BeyondESP2 deck. As far as normal decks, then I LOVE the BCS. Sincerely, Matt

The way you asked a question, the criteria that you specified (performing mentalists wouldn't want to go for "cheap" as a reason in and of itself, the power of the effect is much more important), the additional questions you asked (BCS v. mnemonica, for example), your number of posts, the questions or statements you make here and in other threads, and the fact that you post questions without giving any information yourself (such as "I currently use X and Y decks in my routine but am looking to expand" or "the type of performer I am is blah blah, what kind of decks, etc. might you recommend). I can't answer such a broad statement with anything but personal recommendations that may or may not work, why not give us a list of the materials you have, an idea of the type of performance you give, and a list of tricks/decks that you find effective. Once we have that, we can have a more fruitful discussion and you will actually be giving something back to the board after asking so many questions. -Carlos

Invisible Deck...Svengali Deck....Annihilation Deck. You can do a complete set with just these three. Try Out of This World as well. Available as an instant download from Penguin.

Tossed Out Deck (David Hoy)
Which Cody already knows full well. His version of the effect is excellent. "Mnemonica" (Juan Tamariz) stacked/memorized deck "X-Ray" (Ben Harris) Which can be used with "Mnemonica" and can serve as a "normal" pack (which it is) that is able to duplicate what (expensive) gimmicked decks do. This is extremely practical and powerful and it's beauty is the simplicity. I have a streamlined handling that allows me to use/keep Mnemonica. I will be glad to share my handling if someone can prove ownership (though I have not taken the time to type this). I love this. "Picture Deck" (by Para labs) Basically this is a set of universal images (easily recognizable), that can be utilized for countless varieties of effects. This can be used for any Mem-deck or stack work and is extremely nicely made. There a two books full of effects and wonderful peeks. This is definately one of the most flexible products. I will probably modify one of these for a T.O.D. effect. As with all Paralabs projects, this is amazingly well produced. Basically, you can perform your favorite mental (card) effects, without any negative bias towards playing cards... and much more. The mnemonic links to commit this to memory are absolutely fantastic, but it is not necessary if one is intimidated by such. Think Annemann's "Extra Sensory Perception" on steroids. "Simpatico" (David Regal, in Approaching Magic) David's effect is wonderful. I have modified this so no card is selected, instead the deck is riffled and they see/remember a card. They deal cards and stop when they like, it is the thought-of card. This is one of the best new card effects (along with X-Ray) that I have worked with in a long time. I have only performed this a few times, but it gets a highest rank for impact. It uses a deck that must be dedicated to this effect. If anyone owns the book (and can prove it), I will gladly share my handling (though will not describe any specific details of the effect). I have not typed this up, but will be glad to share when I have. Each of these are outstanding. With regards, Waters |
