IMPROMPTU COIN IN BOTTLE BY ALAN RORRISON
Another gem from Alan. You know how great Kevin Parker’s Passing Through looks? Well this looks a lot like it except it’s impromptu and the coin is signed. Check out the online demo on Alan's site http://www.alanrorrison.tk. The spectator signs a coin and inspects the bottle (can be plastic or glass). You then proceed to visually slide the coin right through the bottom of the bottle. The bottle can then be given to the spectator with the coin rattling around in it (and yes, it really is their signed coin in there). They can keep the bottle. This is a very nice coin in bottle effect. The routining is excellent. Alan motivates everything very well. The method is simple but highly effective. I didn’t really know much about Alan before this past week but I’m quickly becoming a big fan of his clean, direct and practical magic. The instructional download costs $9.00 which I think is a bargain for this effect. It is available at http://www.alanrorrison.tk and runs about 7 minutes.

It looks almost identical to "Passing Through " but the signed coin idea sound very interesting. One question do I need to open the bottle?

Well I just paid my $9 and got NOTHING!
I don't know what is going on but I never got a link to download the video or a password or anything. I paid and then got linked to a site trying to sell me domain names and so forth... that's it. I would reccomend staying away from this until I hear back from Alan and hopefully solve this issue. |

Personally, for those who know Kevin Parkers effect, use a plastic bottle for the penetration and take the gimmick away. I have nothing against Alan personally, I think he is creative, but I find he creates or just changes effects that have been brought out recently. I don't know how much thinking has gone into this, but as Alan has taken the gimmick away and made it signed, he releases it. I don't think it is that audience tested, like months and months of work and thinking, just, that's a cool idea, lets release that ASAP. You also miss the beginning of the effect to get it signed etc, all you see is the penetration, which looks better on the parker effect. Im expecting to take heat for this post, but its an opinion to which I'm entitled to

Email Alan. He'll take care of the issues. He was very prompt when I had troubles.
Christopher, I hear what you are saying but this routine is very nice. If he did dash this one off, he did a very thorough job of it. I don't know if he had the idea before Kevin Parker's effect or not. It's very practical, though. I would feel comfortable performing this as I feel it's well thought out. Yes, the bottle is opened. However, it is well motivated. You can also do this with a glass bottle, BTW.

He's probably not on an autoresponder, so he'll have to send the stuff out manually.

Just bought it. The dwnload is failed and I need Alan to email me the file instead.
Comment: If you already have Kevin Parker's "passing thru", don't buy this one. You can figure out the method anyway. Overall, it gives me an impression that it is nothing news, but copy frm here and there. But then, for ten bugs (roughtly), you can't complaint - may be except the spams and failed links? |

Cfrancis,
How does this compare to Parker's 'Passing Through'? Are you able to make a comparison? Take care, Logan

I think Christoper Williams already made the comparison earlier.
Passing thru needs a gimmick and no signed coin (but you can modify the trick to use signed coin). Alan's version need no gimmick and use a signed coin. I am not saying that this is not a good trick. But after everyone has their versions, Alan's one seems not original but copy frm here and there. And you properly can figure it out if you got passing thru anyway. |

Actually, for passing thru, the method where he gets the coin inside the bottle, not the penetration part, was already taught in Peter Eggink's Strangers like Me DVD many years back. The penetration part seems to be the only original aspect
Think outside the box, cos people are all thinking inside now!! - ClouDsss

Alan has e-mailed me the file so he did respond quickly to my e-mail. Sadly the file he sent will still not open, perhpas because I use a Mac? So I am still trying to figure out how to get what I paid for!
