Hi everyone. I am looking for recommendations for change bags. Which one is your favorite and why?
I am going to start to put together a small routine using silks and want to purchase a change bag. I have a few other silk routines I am going to perform as well. Just working it all out now. I was hoping for some feedback before spending the money so that I don't waste it buying different versions. Thanks in advance for your assistance! |

It depends on what you want it to do. Most change bags are the same. The one I use is a fairly cheap one and is still in good nick after 6 years.

I like the kind with the zipper, you can unzip it and show the bag empty. I think there is less suspicion with the zipper style.

If you are doing a routine where a kid will be holding the bag get one with a handle, if they are just reaching in you can get one that is just a switching bag.

I also have the zippered change bag. But my change bag has 3-compartments. It has the middle one with the zipper and I can flip it left or right and I have 2 more compartments. This is good when doing the Mis-Made Flag routine. My change bag is by Unknown. It is called a Repeat Change Bag if this helps. I have had it for 3-years now. When I first bought it, it cost $ 24.95. I think you can get this at any magic shop.

I went in search of a high-quality change bag with a more machined mechanism. Ron Reid on the Café recommended the change bag from Practical Magic. It is expensive (around $120), but it looks great, is high quality, and uses a different approach than most other change bags. It's been great! You can see it at:

I would like to take a look at it online. I like the idea that it has 3 compartments. Thanks in advance for your help~ Magic4ewe (sorry, I just realized I'm posting on hubby's account) |

I use the Ickle-Pickle bag! I love it! It's been a great piece in my show. I've used it for several different effects: Blendo, Color Changes, Predictions, etc... For what you pay, it is great! The movement for the "switch" is minimal and it actually closely resembles the usher bags at my church which has worked well for some of the shows I've done for my church!
You can't go wrong with an I/P bag... and to think, they didn't pay me to say that!!! Bryan |

It might be interesting to see a change bag from the folks at fabric manipulation
A change bag that I would recommend has the zippered bottom...use it to put things in and have it drop out the bottom... pretend not to notice and carry on with the trick...repeat as necessary the previous post also mentions a change bag that looks like an "usher bags at my church"...some comedy potential if the change bag did look like a collection bag...perhaps a generic name of a church or "church collection bag" printed on the side...the line might be something like..."Hey, they kept passing it out and no one wanted it so I took it...it's a nice bag!" |
